To support our research activities, we are currently recruiting for our research group which conducts research on the economics innovation and thus open a Junior Researcher Ph.D. position.
We offer a full-time position in the internationally oriented research environment of the KU Leuven, preferably starting February 1st 2022. Appointment will be a fixed-term for four years. The salary will be assessed in accordance to the legal salary grade systems existing at the KU Leuven. Women are encouraged to apply. Applicants hold a university master degree in economics of related field. They are interested in developing the skills necessary to conduct policy-relevant research in the field of economics of innovation. They should have an interest in using micro-econometric techniques.
The researcher assists in the implementation of the Flemish part of the Community Innovation Surveys (CIS) and the Eurostat-OECD R&D surveys. This involves survey development, data processing, statistical analysis and the interpretation of data.During his/her appointment, the junior researcher is expected to obtain a Ph.D. in Business Economics at the KU Leuven. This involves coursework, seminar presentations and similar activities as well as the preparation of a Ph.D. thesis which is typically consists of four research papers that have the potential to be published in international journals. There will be ample time besides the project-related policy research to complete the Ph.D. The successful candidate will also have the chance to present his or her work regularly at international conferences and to attend summer schools or similar events.
Basic knowledge of quantitative data processing and micro-econometrics, as well as general computer skills and information retrieval skills are expected. The knowledge of the software STATA is a plus. Fluency in written and spoken English is expected. The knowledge of Dutch language is also a plus, but not a requirement.
