Offer Description
Study of new materials and neuromorphic systems for applications in precision medicine
The TECNOMED project aims to establish Italy's first research center for the application of nanotechnology and photonics to precision medicine. A critical mass of personnel and instrumentation resources will be employed with the mission of promoting translational approaches of the most recent and promising advances in nanotechnology and photonics to clinical practice. Specifically, the activity will involve, on the one hand, the development of new semiconducting nanomaterials having optimized optical properties. Such materials will be suitably engineered with the goal of achieving intense luminescence at room temperature and high light interaction capability. The result of the project will be the realization of a new nanophotonic device for applications in imaging and sensing. On the other hand, parallel efforts will be made to develop a new hardware and software technology for the realization of a highly nonlinear optical system capable of performing neuromorphic computing operations with low power consumption and high speed for microscopy and sensing in the field of precision medicine. Specifically, it is intended to define a machine learning protocol to operate the nonlinear physical system and enable pattern recognition and complex data images. To achieve these objectives, two professionalizing research grants are required in which the fellows will need to possess skills in the synthesis of inorganic or hybrid materials, deposition of thin films and their chemical and physical characterization or skills on photonic and optoelectronic systems.

• Basic knowledge of Italian (for foreign candidates)

Additional Information
Contract of one year (renewable). Yearly gross remuneration for one year: “19.367,00 €”
