Project description: ICHB PAN offers employment as an Assistant Professor (Post-Doc) in an international Pathfinder EIC project, Yeast cell factory for mRNA bioproduction, implemented under the European Union Framework Program, Horizon Europe. Pathfinder EIC supports visionary thinking that can open the way to powerful new technologies. The project will be implemented in a consortium with scientific units, research organizations, and companies from France, Portugal, Germany, and Slovenia. The project is led by CENTER NATIONAL DE LA RECHERCHE SCIENTFIQUE (CNRS). IBCH PAS is one of the leading research units in Poland, specializing in chemistry, molecular biology, and biomedicine, with access to cutting-edge technologies. The project goal is to develop an innovative platform for the bioproduction of mRNA in yeast. Although yeast has been employed for the production of several biopharmaceuticals, RNA production has never been attempted.

Requirements

Skills/Qualifications

I. Requirements for the Candidate:

  1. A Ph.D. degree (or equivalent) in molecular biology, bioinformatics, biotechnology, biochemistry, or related sciences.
  2. Well-documented research output in the form of research papers published in recognizable research journals listed in the Web of Science database.
  3. Significant background in molecular biology (RNA, proteins), including research experience in at least one of the following methods: SELEX, RNA structure mapping, BLI, MST and/or production and purification of recombinant proteins.
  4. Experience in NGS data analysis.
  5. Strong motivation and commitment to the project implementation.
  6. Good command of English enabling efficient communication and preparation of research papers.
  7. Experience in manuscript writing and scientific presentations.

Gross salary: ca. 9 000 PLN/month (total employment cost).

II. Job Responsibilities:

  1. Designing and carrying out scientific experiments and interpreting their results
  2. Critical literature reading.
  3. Manuscript preparation for publication
  4. Presenting results at seminars and scientific meetings.

III. We offer:

  • Full-time employment contract (for 12 months with a possible extension of up to 24 months)

IV. Required documents:

1. Letter of application to the Director of IBCH PAS with a statement confirming that the Institute shall be the candidate's primary place of employment.

2. Scientific CV including a list of publications, patents, previous positions, and managed projects.

3. Cover letter featuring information on the candidate's scientific background, achievements, and contact details to three referees.

4. Copy of Ph.D. diploma.

VII. Selection of candidates:

Following preliminary verification, on the basis of the application documents, selected candidates will be invited for an interview, and based on the results of both stages of the applicant's evaluation, one candidate shall be appointed. The main criteria taken into consideration during the selection of the candidates will be: (i) research output in the form of published papers, (ii) experience necessary for the tasks planned within the framework of the project, (iii) achievements resulting from conducting research, scholarships, awards, workshops, and research training, managing or participating in research projects

VIII. The recruitment procedure shall be concluded no later than December 23rd, 2022.

IX. Employment shall take place in compliance with the provisions of the Labor Code of Poland.
