Offer Description
The Research Group on AgroICT & Precision Agriculture (https://www.grap.udl.cat/en/) of the University of Lleida offers a PhD student position for one of its research projects.
PROJECT TITLE: Precision crop protection to achieve European Green Deal goals in pesticide use efficiency and reduction using precision agriculture techniques (PAgPROTECT) - Ref. PID2021-126648OB-I00
The thesis will be based on the application of artificial intelligence techniques in the field of precision agriculture (in-field fruit detection, 3D canopy characterization, etc). The specific application within precision agriculture may be adjusted considering the needs of the project as well as the interests and skills of the candidate.

- Good academic CV (minimum average qualification 6.5/10).

Additional Information
Position available for 1 year. After evaluation at the end of the first year, the contract can be extended up to 2 years more (total: 3 years).
Gross salary around 17.000 €/year
- Education (bachelor's and master's studies in computer science, computer vision, robotics engineering, industrial engineering, or similar). Agricultural engineers with excellent programming skills will also be considered.
- Experience in matters of precision agriculture, photonic sensors as well as other technologies, methods and tasks relevant to the project.
- Research merits (publications, assistance to scientific conferences, experience in research, etc.).
- Programming skills (Python, Matlab, C+, or similar).
- Communication and language skills.
