Offer Description
The Institute of Chemical Research of Catalonia (ICIQ) is seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher.
This position will be funded by the European Commission project ref. 101022202 – NEFERTITI, from the call H2020-LC-SC3-2020-NZE-RES-CC.
ICIQ is committed to performing excellent research at the frontier of knowledge in the broad area of chemistry (Catalysis, Artificial Photosynthesis, Activation of Small Molecules, Photovoltaics, Functional Molecular Assemblies and Chemical Biology, from either theoretical or experimental perspectives). The institute also aims at training the future generation of scientists by offering high-quality educational programmes to master, PhD students and postdoctoral researchers (Full details on http://www.iciq.org/).
ICIQ is looking for a Postdoctoral Researcher to work in Prof. Emilio Palomares’ research group/ CSOL to perform design and synthesis of Luminescent Solar Concentrators. This project is funded by the European Commission project “Innovative photocatalysts integrated in flow photoreactor systems for direct CO2 and H2O conversion into solar fuels”, ref. 101022202 – NEFERTITI, from the call H2020-LC-SC3-2020-NZE-RES-CC.
Responsibilities
- Design and synthesis of organic dyes (e.g., perylenes, rhodamines, etc) and metal nanoparticles as Luminescent Solar Concentrators (LSC) with high emission
- Modification of the chemical structure of the dyes to tune the light absorption and emission at specific wavelengths.
- Measure light absorption / emission spectra and calculation of quantum yield.
- Integration of the LSCs into formulations suitable for spin coating, dip coating and spray coating
Requirements
- Ph.D. in Chemistry, or similar
- Experience in synthetic organic chemistry
- Good knowledge of English (written and spoken) is required
Valued qualities
- Experience in the synthesis of organic dyes and metal nanoparticle dyes
- Knowledge in how substitution patterns impact light absorption/emission properties of the dye
- Good communication skills
We offer
- A full-time employment contract linked to the European Commission project ref. 101022202 – NEFERTITI, from the call H2020-LC-SC3-2020-NZE-RES-CC, with funding for 24 months.
- Remuneration according to individual’s qualifications/experience.
- Annual salary split in twelve monthly payments.
