COMPETITION FOR THE POSITION OF AN ASSISTANT PROFESSOR (in the teaching group—field: political science and administration) AT THE FACULTY OF POLITICAL SCIENCE AND INTERNATIONAL STUDIES (Department of Diplomacy and International Institutions)
The candidate should meet the criteria set out in the Higher Education and Science Act of 20 July 2018 (Journal of Laws of 2022, item 574) and the Statutes of the University of Warsaw (Official Gazette of the University of Warsaw of 2019, item 190).
Competitive selection criteria:
- doctoral degree in social sciences in the field of political science;
- research interests: intellectual property protection, public international law, EU law, European integration; enhanced cooperation in the European Union; intellectual property rights in the judicial practice of EU institutions; constitutional principles of the European Union;
- knowledge of EU law, European integration, intellectual property protection and public international law issues proved by published papers and experience;
- fluent command of spoken and written English;
- teaching experience (in Polish and English) in the field of international intellectual property protection, intellectual property law, public international law, the economic and commercial laws of India, international commercial law, EU law;
- participation in national and international conferences, in particular conferences devoted to EU law and institutions, human rights and international law, and experience in organising scientific conferences;
- candidates who completed academic internships at EU institutions and research centres abroad will be given preferential consideration.
Tasks:
- teaching classes in Polish and English in international intellectual property protection, intellectual property law, public international law, the business and commercial laws of India, international commercial law, EU law;
- organising and participating in, including presenting papers at, conferences and national and international seminars;
- establishing and conducting scientific cooperation with Polish and foreign research centres;
- acquiring knowledge in the field of educational quality (this applies to both teaching itself and its organisation);
- participation in organisational work carried out at the Chair and at the Department.
Required documents:
- an application to the Rector of the University of Warsaw, including a consent for the processing of personal data for the purposes of the recruitment process in accordance with the Personal Data Protection Act of 10 May 2018 (Journal of Laws of 2018, item 1000);
- photocopy of doctoral degree certificate;
- list of published papers on the EU law, European integration, intellectual property protection, public international law;
- documentary evidence of experience teaching EU law, European integration, intellectual property protection, public international law;
- documentary evidence of academic internships completed at EU institutions and overseas research centres;
- two references from independent academic instructors concerning the candidate’s scientific achievements;
- documentary evidence of classes taught in English;
- academic resume;
- completed forms available at the UW Human Resources Office website (https://bsp.adm.uw.edu.pl/bsp-druki-do-pobrania/ - dla kandydata do pracy): personal questionnaire for the candidate, signed information about the processing of personal data, a statement that the University will be the applicant's primary place of employment if hired;
- declaration in which the candidate confirms that he or she has read and accepts the rules governing competitions for the position of academic teacher at the University of Warsaw.
The competition is the first stage of the procedure for hiring for the position of an academic teacher, as specified in the UW Statute, and its positive outcome constitutes a basis for further proceedings.
The applicants will be notified by email of the results of the competition.
The documents should be submitted by regular mail or in person at the Dean's Office of the Department, Auditorium Building, ul. Krakowskie Przedmieście 26/28, pok. [room] 216 by 19 april 2023. The competition will be resolved by 08 may 2023.
