Offer Description

Call for the attribution of one (1) Research Initiation Scholarship (BII) within the scope of the Project Echoes from the Past: Unveiling a Lost Soundscape with Digital Analysis(ECHOES) (2022.01957.PTDC), financed by national funds through FCT/MCTES (PIDDAC).

 

Working plan: The initiation student will assist the research team in carrying out the tasks performed during the term of the project, with particular emphasis 1) on the process of digitization of the 17th-century manuscripts currently kept in Braga and 2) in the cataloguing of some of these sources in the Portuguese Early Music database.

 

The duration of the studentship for scientific initiation is 3 months and is non-renewable. The expected starting date is 1st June 2023.

How to Apply? The candidate must send an application letter, including identification and contact details, accompanied by the following: Curriculum Vitae, proof of enrolment in a Musicology degree (Licentiate) or equivalent, declaration by the candidate that she/he does not exceed, with the conclusion of the studentship contract in question, an accumulated period of one year in this type of scholarship, followed or interpolated, and has not already been a beneficiary of any other research scholarship directly or indirectly financed by the FCT and, optionally, other supporting documents deemed relevant.

 

In the case of academic degrees obtained in foreign higher education institutions, it is necessary to present the recognition of the degrees obtained, in accordance with DL Nº 66/2018, of August 16; or, in the absence of recognition at the time of application, declaration under oath that the candidate will provide this this recognition before contracting the Scholarship in case one is the selected candidate.

 

However, it is mandatory to present the acknowledgment by the time the scholarship is contracted.

Enrolment in a Musicology degree (Licentiate) or equivalent.

 

 

Applicable legislation and regulations:

Research Initiation Scholarships - Compliance with the provisions of article 5 of the FCT Research Scholarships Regulation (Reg. no. 950/2019):

a) be enrolled in a higher professional technical course, a degree, an integrated master's degree or a master's degree, or be a graduate and be enrolled in a non-academic degree course integrated in the educational project of a higher education institution, developed in association or cooperation with one or several R&D units;

b) not exceed, with the conclusion of the fellowship contract in question, including possible renewals, an accumulated period of one year in this type of fellowship, consecutive or interspersed;

c) not have already benefited from any other research grant directly or indirectly financed by FCT.

Academic degrees obtained in foreign countries require registration by a Portuguese institution, in accordance with Decree-Law No. 66/2018, of August 16, and Ordinance No. 33/2019, of January 25. Specific Requirements

Preferential requirements: second year of the degree completed at the time the studentship starts, command of written English and IT skills. Previous experience with the Portuguese Early Music Database.

Benefits

The research fellowship corresponds to €541,12 monthly

Selection process

Selection process: The selection methods will be the following: a) curriculum evaluation, on a grading scale from 0 to 10, with weighting of the academic background (0-5 points) and the preferential requirements (0-5 points); b) optional interview, carried out by decision of the jury. In the event of an interview, the weighting of each of the selection methods, a) and b), will be 50%.

The approved candidates will be notified by e-mail in due course. The candidates will be notified of the date and place of the interview by the same means.

 

The final results, in the form of a list ordered according to the points obtained by each candidate, will be published on the CESEM website (http://cesem.fcsh.unl.pt), and the successful candidate will be notified by email.
