Offer Description

Applications are being sought for two postdoctoral positions at the Centre de Biologie Structurale in Montpellier, France ( www.cbs.cnrs.fr ). This will be two full-time, 24-months appointments focused on the development and implementation of new DNA nanotechnology based tools for Biophysics and Structural Biology studies. The projects are funded by The French National Research Agency and will be carried out under the supervision of Gaëtan Bellot. We are seeking two highly motivated recent PhD graduates with expertise in Nano-Engineering or Structural Biology, with a keen interest in applying this knowledge to Biology.

Specifically, our laboratory develops functional DNA origami nanodevices to recapitulate and to probe fundamental aspects in biology. Post-Docs will develop three main projects based on our recent study [ Nature Comm 13, 3182 (2022). https://doi.org/10.1038/s41467-022-30745-2 ]:

i) Engineering new DNA-based nano-machines and nano-robots design.

ii) Design of dynamic nanometer-sized architectures that exhibit controlled motion in response to selective external triggers and translate them in an optical signal for ultra-sensitive diagnostics.

iii) Structure determination of dynamic DNA origami by single-particle cryo-Electron Microscopy (cryo-EM).

In cryo-electron microscopy, the laboratory harbors one FEG 200 JEOL microscope, equipped with incolumn Omega energy filter, K3 Gatan camera and Serial EM program, and one cryo1400 Flash screening microscope (for more details, see http://www.cbs.cnrs.fr/index.php/en/pibbs-em).

Applicants must have a Ph.D. and should have a strong background in Biochemistry/Chemistry or in Biophysics/Structural-Biology. Candidates should send an inquiry with CV and have one or two references send letters of recommendation to gaetan.bellot@cbs.cnrs.fr
