CALL FOR RESEARCH FELLOWSHIPS FOR STUDENTS

Scholarship: 1 (One) Research Grant for Master Students (BIC)

The Institute of Systems and Robotics of the University of Coimbra (ISR-UC) opens a call for a 1 (One) Research Grant for master Students (BIC), under the Project with the reference UID/EEA/00048/2020 with the financial support of the Foundation for Science and Technology, I.P. /MCTES through national funds (PIDDAC), under the following conditions:

Scientific area: Electrical and Computer engineering.

Admission requirements: To this fellowship can apply master students in the areas of Electrical and Computer engineering, which are eligible under the rules of the FCT, IP Research Scholarship Regulation.

NOTE: We emphasize that academic degrees obtained in foreign countries require registration by a Portuguese Institution in accordance with Decree-Law no. 66/2018, of August 16 and Ordinance No. 33/2019, of January 25th. Work plan: The objective of this project is to implement thin-film patches for bioelectronics applications, including neuromuscular electrostimulation. The student will learn techniques for microfabrication of soft electronics, and will apply them for over-the-skin and/or implantable devices that can interface with the biological organs. Bottom of Form.Activity Regime: The attribution of scholarships does not generate or entitle a legal-employment relationship, it is carried out on an exclusive dedication basis and the Scholarship Holder is assigned the Scholarship Holder Status, in accordance with the provisions of the Foundation's Research Scholarship Regulation for the Science and Technology, IP.

Workplace: The workplace is located at the Institute of Systems and Robotics, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Rua Sílvio Lima, University of Coimbra – Pólo II, 3030-290, Coimbra.

Scholarship duration: The scholarship will last for 6 months.

Scientific Orientation: Professor Mahmoud Tavakoli.

Financial Conditions of the Scholarship: The scholarship amounts to € 486,12 corresponding to the monthly remuneration stipulated in the FCT table. This monthly allowance will be paid at the end of the month by bank transfer. To this amount is added the voluntary social insurance corresponding to the first step (if the candidate chooses to be awarded it), as well as the personal accident insurance.

Selection Method: Curriculum Evaluation (60%), and interview (40%) to the 3 best classified in the Curriculum Evaluation.

Selection criteria: The curriculum evaluation will focus on the following criteria: overall merit of the curriculum vitae (40%) and its suitability for the project (60%).

In the interview (40%), the 3 best candidates classified in the Curriculum Assessment will be interviewed and the degree of motivation and commitment to the tasks to be developed will be evaluated.

Candidates who do not obtain a minimum classification of 3.5 values on a scale of 0 to 5 values in the final evaluation are considered excluded from the selection process. The jury reserves the right not to award scholarships if candidates with the appropriate profile are not presented to the competition.

Composition of the Selection Jury: President: Professor Aníbal Traça de Almeida; Vowels: Professor Mahmoud Tavakoli and Dr. Afsaneh LalSanati.

Form of publicity / notification of the results: The results of the evaluation will be publicized, through a list ordered by the final grade obtained, with the candidates being notified by email. After the dissemination of the results through e-mail, the candidates must consider themselves, from the outset, notified to, if they wish, express themselves in a prior hearing within a maximum period of 10 working days after that date. At the end of this period, the selected candidate must consider himself summoned to start the scholarship.

The following documentation must be sent: CV, certificate of qualifications including a breakdown of the classifications obtained in the subjects of the respective course and final classification, and motivation letter.

Deadline for formalizing the application: The call is open from 19th to 30th September 2022.
