The successful applicant will carry out research and teaching covering all aspects in the field of "Transformation of Audiovisual Media",  with a focus on contemporary processes that are transforming film and television. The changing technical infrastructures, economic conditions and pop cultural dimensions resulting from these transformations will be of key importance. In addition, it is expected that the successful applicant will be versed in gender and queer theory. An interest in cultural studies would be desirable in order to facilitate intra-faculty and external research collaboration. We expect the candidate to teach and supervise bachelor’s and master’s students on the Institute’s Media Studies courses.

Since this position involves membership of the “Netzwerk Frauen- und Geschlechterforschung NRW” (North Rhine-Westphalia Women’s and Gender Studies Network), the successful applicant will be expected to participate in the RUB’s “Gender Studies” network and the Gender Studies courses directorate. Ideally, the candidate will be willing to take charge of the international master’s programme “Film and Audiovisual Media”. Participation in ongoing research projects at the Faculty of Philology is expected.
