OFFER DESCRIPTION

Leishmaniasis is an infection that is transmitted by protozoa of the genus Leishmania and is considered a neglected tropical disease, despite being endemic and emerging in several European countries, including Italy. The aim of the project is the development of nanobiotechnological devices that iare simultaneously cheap, simple to use and sensitive for the identification of Leishmania infantum in biological samples. The specific objectives of the project will be the following: 1) Set up of tests for the recognition of specific peptides of the parasite by "bait phages" (Task 2.1 of the ECLIPSE project); 2) Development of molecular probes for the recognition of parasite DNA (Task 2.3 of the ECLIPSE project); 3) Evaluation of the performance of the newly developed devices to identify Leishmania infantum in biological samples (Task 5.3 of the ECLIPSE project).
