Project Summary:

Study of scientific paths of Geography from the historical archive from Finisterra

Finisterra-Revista Portuguesa de Geografia already has a long editorial path, since its foundation, by Orlando Ribeiro, in 1966, to the present day. The knowledge of science developed during the history of the Center for Geographic Studies, its publishing entity, necessarily implies the study of many documents that the journal made known to the scientific community. The vast set of scientific texts published in Finisterra represents an essential document collection for the knowledge of the objects of study, the problems, methodological approaches, theories and currents of thought that attracted scientific inquiry by geographers and others scholars of the territory, both in Portugal and in international contexts. This very rich bibliographic heritage is clearly worthy of scientific research, which may be guided by different perspectives and/or focus on different issues within the scope of Geography, embodying, in this case, a master's thesis.

Work objectives:

The work plan of the scholarship holder to be hired is as follows:

1- Preparation of the Master's dissertation focused on the analysis of a set of scientific texts, namely articles, published in Finisterra.

2- Collaboration in events and activities promoted by Finisterra, such as training actions, the Annual Lesson, or other initiatives, performing logistical support and organizational support tasks.

3- Collaboration in formatting tasks for documents edited in Finisterra.

4- Collaboration in activities to publicize Finisterra and its initiatives, whether on the magazine's website, or on social networks and other portals for disseminating the information.
