  1. OBJECTIVES | TASKS

Investigate the emergence of collective intelligence in hybrid societies of agents and humans through the presence of Theory of Mind (ToM) mechanisms in agents.  The research involves the creation of a model  for interactive social learning in agents that relies on ToM to achieve some form of common shared understanding with the other agents. To do that we will  explore both reinforcement learning and evolutionary game theoretical approaches as the starting point for the simulation of the agent’s societies.  The aim is for the results of the work to lead to more cooperation in hybrid groups of agents and humans.

Different types of domains will be explored (in particular in application areas of the partners in the RAI consortium), as well as different context variables that shape the way the AI interacts with humans. This thesis is part of a more broad topic in Human-AI collaboration and Social AI..
