OFFER DESCRIPTION

Applications are open for one Research Studentship, within the framework of project/R&D institution BRIDGE – Bridging science and local communities for wildfire risk reduction, refª PCIF/AGT/00072/2019, financed by national funds through FCT/MCTES (PIDDAC

Workplan: The candidate will participate in all tasks of the BRIDGE project.

Specifically, the candidate will contribute to the following tasks within the scope of the project:

1. Know the socio-ecological system in Monchique and the ways of human adaptation to the risk of fire;

2. Contribute to local capacity building through the dynamization of the Innolab;

3. Share the BRIDGE approach.

Duration: The research fellowship will have the duration of 6 months. It’s expected to begin in august and may be eventually renewed.

Monthly maintenance allowance: According to the values for Research Fellowships awarded by FCT in Portugal (http://www.fct.pt/apoios/bolsas/valores ), the amount of the monthly maintenance allowance is 875,98€, being the payment method an option of the Fellow by Wire Transfer/Check.

Eligibility criteria

Admission Requirements: Degree in social sciences, planning, environmental engineering, or a related field. Be enrolled in a master's degree and be available to develop the thesis within the scope of the BRIDGE project. Able to development of research, collection and systematization of data. Have an interest in the application of participatory methodologies within the scope of territorial planning. Organizational capacity, autonomy, commitment to the goals outlined and ease of working in a group. Proficiency in spoken and written English.

Selection process

Selection methods: The selection methods will be the following:

1. Curriculum evaluation (40%);

2. Experience in research, collection and systematization of data (30%);

3. Proficiency in English (10%);

4. Optional interview (20%), in case of a tie between candidates.

Announcement/ notification of the results: The final evaluation results will be communicated to all applicants by email.

Deadlines and procedures of complaint and appeal. A complaint may be lodged from the final decision within 15 working days, or an appeal to the Executive Board of IST-ID within 30 working days, both counted from the respective notification
