Offer Description
The functions to be performed, under scientific coordination, are:
Participation in research and development activities within the scope of the SMARTgNOSTICS project (Global Testing & Diagnostics Solutions for antimicrobial resistances), which aims to develop diagnostic devices for the detection, identification and monitoring of pathogenic bacteria, antibiotic resistance genes and antibiotic residues, in clinical and environmental settings.

- Good domain in the field of bioinformatics (analysis of genomics and/or metagenomics data);
- Proven experience in the area of diversity, phylogeny and microbial systematics;
- Proven experience in the area of antibiotic resistance in bacteria from different matrices: clinical and environmental;
- Demonstrated experience in classical bacteriology and molecular biology;
- Experience in participating in, and submitting research projects in the scientific area of this recruitment competition;
- Experience in the implementation and development of new technologies;
- Domain of the English language (oral and written);
- High sense of responsibility;
- Ease of relationship, communication and teamwork;
- Immediate availability.
Specific requirements: PhD in Biological Sciences or related areas, and/or Bioinformatics.

Additional Information
The remuneration is provided for in paragraph a) of paragraph 1 of article 15 of the RJEC, corresponding to level 33 of the single remuneration table approved by Administrative Rule nº 1553-C/2008, of December 31, in the illiquid amount of 2,206.05 euros.
Opponents of the competition may be national, foreign and stateless candidates who are holders of a doctor's degree and holders of a scientific and professional curriculum that reveals an adequate profile for the activity to be developed. If the doctorate degree has been awarded by a foreign higher education institution, it must comply with the provisions of Decree-Law No. 66/2018, of August 16, and any formalities established therein must be fulfilled by the deadline for the candidacy.
Selection and Evaluation Criteria: Under the combined terms of article 5 of the RJEC and article 10 of the ECIC, the selection of doctorates is carried out through the evaluation of the scientific career and curriculum of the candidates, which focuses on the relevance, quality and timeliness of the professional experience of the candidate in the last five years, in the specialized scientific area for which the competition is open and in the evaluation of the adequacy of the candidate's experience to the development of the above project.
The period of five years referred to in the the preceding paragraph may be increased by the jury, at the request of the candidate, when based on suspension of scientific activity for socially protected reasons, namely, for reasons of parental leave, serious illness, and other legally protected situations of unavailability for work.
The candidates’ evaluation will be expressed on a numerical scale from 0 to 20, taking into account the elements indicated in points 7 and 8, and will consist of assessing the curriculum vitae of the candidates and their suitability to the preferential requirements established for this competition.
The assessment and weighting criteria to be used, in particular, as well as the final classification system, including the respective classification formula, are set out in the minutes of the jury meeting, which are provided to candidates whenever requested.
The assessment mentioned in the preceding paragraph may be complemented by an interview (ENT) with the candidates, with a view to obtaining clarifications or making explicit elements contained in the candidates' CVs. In these cases, the interview will have a weighting of 50% in the final classification.
The jury deliberates through nominal voting based on the criteria adopted and disclosed, abstentions not being allowed.
Minutes of the jury meetings are drawn up and contain a summary of what happened, as well as the classification attributed by each of members and the respective grounds, which are provided to the candidates whenever requested.
After completing the application of the evaluation criteria, the jury proceeds to draw up an ordered list of approved candidates with the respective classification.
Formalization of the application:
Applications must be submitted by filling in the application form, available on the INSA, IP website at www.insa.min-saude.pt in the functionality “Institutional - Management Instruments - Recruitment - International Tender Procedures - Opening Notices ”, until the last day of the deadline for opening the tender, which is set at 20 working days after the publication of this Notice.
The candidate must unequivocally identify, in the Application Form, the intended job, indicating the career, category and activity that characterizes the job to be occupied.
Only electronic submission of applications is admissible.
Validation of the application is done by submitting the mandatory application form made available for this purpose, accompanied by the respective curriculum vitae and other documents required in the procedure, and the candidate must keep the proof, requesting that it be sent when submitting the application.
Applications that do not complete the submission of the electronic form will not be considered.
The application form must be accompanied by the documents proving the conditions set out in points 6 and 7, namely:
a) Copy of doctoral certificate or diploma;
b) Summary of the doctoral thesis;
c) Detailed curriculum vitae, written in Portuguese or English, describing the scientific activities carried out and the corresponding periods, the scientific publications with indication of DOI and hyperlink, and indication of the professional experience referred to in point 7;
d) Motivation letter, written in Portuguese or English, focusing on the relevance of the scientific career for the position, the professional objectives and the areas and research topics of your interest and that you consider relevant to develop in the future;
e) Indication of the name and contact of two researchers or professors who can recommend the candidate.
Candidates who incorrectly formalize their application or who do not prove the tender’s requirements demanded in this competition are excluded from admission process of the present competition.
