Call for two Doctoral Scholarships
funded by the National Science Center as part of the project „Inter-strain chimeric mice to study the role of the placenta in the pathogenesis of neurodevelopmental disorders” no. 2020/39/B/NZ4/02105
Description of tasks:
The students’ projects will be focused mainly on investigating the role of the placenta in the regulation of fetal brain development and programming of postnatal behavior in mouse models of neurodevelopment disorders. The students will conduct experiments on live animals (mice).
Responsibilities in the project:
- accomplish the assigned research tasks
- collect data with meticulous and genuine care
- report and discuss the results with the project’s PI
- draft research reports
- prepare manuscript drafts
- participate in scientific conference

Contract duration: 30-36 months
Scholarship amount: approx. 4250 gross PLN/month
Planned date of commencement of work in the project: by October 1st, 2022

Scholarship holders will be selected by a committee appointed by the Director of the Institute of Genetics and Animal Biotechnology of the Polish Academy of Sciences will take place in accordance with par. 14 of the Regulations for the granting of scientific scholarships in research projects financed from the National Science Centre of March 14, 2019 and with point 2.1.3 Remuneration and scholarships for students and doctoral students of Annex 2 to the Regulations on awarding funds for the implementation of tasks financed by the National Science Center in the field of research projects.

Skills/Qualifications
- Master's degree or equivalent in biology, biotechnology or similar (or obtaining such degree by September 30).
- Prior experience in a research laboratory. Knowledge and experience in histological techniques and/or testing mice behavior would be highly desirable.
- Strong interests for the field of Developmental Biology and/or Neuroscience
- Documented knowledge of the English language at the B2 level.
- High motivation for scientific work. Precision, conscientiousness, and good manual skills.
- General skills - very good organization of work, including the ability to work independently as well as working in an interdisciplinary research team, creative thinking, devotion to science.
The competition is open to persons who do not have a doctoral degree and persons who are not participants of any doctoral school.
