The RecaP ITN research and educational program trains a new generation of Phosphorus specialists to become ‘knowledge brokers’ across disciplinary silos. We will not just explore technical aspects of the global P challenge, but also where solutions can be implemented.

The PhD student will participate in both industrial and research positions to ensure sustainable P changes across the EU and globally. Applicants must apply via the hosting institution as indicated on the RecaP website.

The application deadline is 21 June, 2022:

ESR6 Phosphorus and Iron recovery from iron phosphate materials. Host: Henrikki Liimatainen, University of Oulu, Finland

More Information

Benefits

The ITN Marie Skłodowska-Curie Programme offers highly competitive and attractive salary and working conditions. Each fellowship includes the following:

  • Monthly living allowance: €3,270/month (€39,240/year); this amount is then adjusted through the application of a country correction coefficient to the living allowance of the country in which the researcher is recruited.

  • Monthly mobility allowance: €600/month

  • Monthly family allowance, if applicable and depending on the family situation: 500€/month.

All researchers will be recruited under an employment contract that includes social security coverage.

The living allowance is a gross EU contribution to the salary costs of the researcher. Consequently, the net salary results from deducting all compulsory (employer/employee) social security contributions as well as direct taxes (e.g. income tax) from the gross amounts. The rate indicated here is for researchers devoting themselves to their project on a full-time basis. The mobility and family allowances are fixed amounts, regardless of the country of recruitment, and may be taxable depending on the country in which the researcher is recruited.

Eligibility criteria

RecaP values diversity, and does not discriminate based on gender, religion, marital status, age, sexual orientation, or cultural background. Additionally, RecaP seeks to increase the number of women in scientific areas where they are underrepresented and therefore explicitly encourages women to apply. To be eligible, applicants must:

  • Comply with the mobility rule, meaning that they must not have resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc.) in the country of the recruiting beneficiary for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately before the recruitment date.

  • Comply with the early-stage researcher definition: at the time of recruitment by the hosting institution, candidates must be in the first four years (full‐time equivalent research experience) of their research careers and have not been awarded a doctoral degree. Compulsory national service, short stays such as holidays, and time spent as part of a procedure for obtaining refugee status under the Geneva Convention are exempt/excluded.

  • Fulfil the requirements to be able to enroll in a doctoral program at the hosting institution/country, and, if applicable, the specific eligibility requirements at the hosting institutions.

  • Proficiency in English is required, as well as good communication skills, both oral and written.

Selection process

Slight variations in the process exist across each host institution, but in general follow an application review and two interview rounds. The specific hosting institution process takes precedent; please review information carefully. Please review the details on the RecaP website under Recruitment, Application and Selection Process.
