OFFER DESCRIPTION

A tender is open for the attribution of one Research Fellowship within the scope of the project projecto NanoReproTox - Desvendando os impactos ecológicos da toxicidade de nanopartículas na reprodução de organismos marinhos / NOVA.id.FCT – Associação para a Inovação e Desenvolvimento da FCT (PTDC/CTA-AMB/30908/2017 – LISBOA-01-0145-FEDER-030908), co-funded by Programa Operacional Competitividade e Internacionalização and by FEDER Programa Operacional Regional de Lisboa, and by Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia, I.P./MCTES through national funds (PIDDAC), under the following conditions:

  1. Scientific Area: Environment and climate changes
  2. Work Plan: The aim is to evaluate the histopathological effects in gonads of fish and mussels exposed to nanoparticles. The work plan includes: i) preparation of samples, stains and slides for histopathological analysis; ii) microscopic observation and analysis of anomalies; iii) acquisition and processing of data; iv) writing scientific articles; v) guidance of undergraduate students; vi) participation in dissemination activities.
  3. Applicable legislation and regulations: Law No. 40/2004, of August 18, amended and republished by Decree-Law No. 202/2012 of August 27 (Statute of the Scientific Research Fellow) and amended by Decree-Law No. 233/2012 of October 29, by Law No. 12 /2013 of 29 January, by Decree-Law No. 89/2013, of 9 July and Decree-Law No. 123/2019, of 28 August; Regulation of Research Grants of NOVA.id.FCT – Association for Innovation and Development of FCT; Regulation of Research Grants of the Foundation for Science and Technology, I.P. in force (https://www.fct.pt/apoios/bolsas/regulamento.phtml.pt);
  4. Workplace: The work will take place at MARLab – Marine Research and Environmental Risk Lab, at MARE – NOVA, Environmental Science and Engineering Department of NOVA School of Science and Technology, NOVA University Lisbon, under the scientific supervision of Professor Marta Susana Silvestre Gouveia Martins, the contracting entity being NOVA.id.FCT – Association for Innovation and Development of FCT.
  5. Fellowship duration: The fellowship has the duration of 3 months, eventually renewable until the end of the project. The fellowship is expected to begin in June, 2022.

  6. Application deadline and form of application submission: The call for applications is open from May 11th to 24th, 2022.
  7. Documents to be provided at the application: Together with the application, the following documents must be submitted: i) Detailed Curriculum Vitae; ii) Master degree certificate registered and/or recognized in Portugal or declaration on honor stating to have the required degree; iii) Other documents considered relevant; iv) Motivation letter; v) Proof of enrollment in a non-graduation course or declaration on honor stating to be eligible for such and that the candidate will enroll in one, if selected for the fellowship.

Benefits

Monthly maintenance allowance amount: According to the regulations of fellowships awarded directly by FCT, I.P. in Portugal the net allowance will be of 1.144,64 EUR/month, paid monthly by bank transfer.

Eligibility criteria

Recipients profile/category:

Mandatory requirements: The candidates must hold a Master degree in Marine Sciences, Environmental Science and Engineering, or other related fields, be enrolled or be eligible to enrol in a non-graduation course and don’t exceed, with the celebration of this fellowship contract, including its renewals, a cumulative period of two years in this type of fellowship, consecutive or interpolated, which will be assessed by the appreciation of the CV .ii) Research and laboratory work experience.

Preferred factors: i) Good English level spoken and written; ii) scientific papers published as whether author or co-author in Marine Sciences and/or Sciences and Environmental Engineering.

Selection process

Selection criteria: A) Curriculum evaluation (40%); B) Laboratorial experience with the techniques stated in the requirements of this notice (40%); C) Motivation letter (20%). If two or more candidates obtain the same classification, they will be subject to an interview with the percentage being redistributed 70% for the result obtained from criteria A to C and 30% for the interview.

Form of advertising/notification of results:

The evaluation results proposed by the jury will be notified, up to 90 days after the deadline for the submission of applications, by email, of the results proposed by the jury, with access to the minutes and the final ranking list.

After notification, candidates will have 10 working days to comment on the draft decision (prior hearing of interested parties, under the terms of the Code of Administrative Procedure). The final decision will be taken after the expiry of the prior hearing period, again notified to all candidates by e-mail. Of this final decision the candidates can file a complaint within 15 working days (to the e-mail address used for the notification), or an hierarchical appeal, within 30 working days, addressed to NOVA.ID.FCT's Board through the address coord1@novaidfct.pt.
