OFFER DESCRIPTION

The next generation instrument of the VLTI, GRAVITY+, is coming to life as a deep upgrade of the VLTI and its instrumentation. Given the tremendous successes of GRAVITY on the Galactic Center, Active Galactic Nuclei and exoplanet research, the upgraded GRAVITY+ promises to enable a whole new set of discoveries on these fields. On exoplanets, the addition of a high-performance adaptive optics to the VLTI will bring exo-atmospheres characterization to the dozen, and may open up a new window in the mid-infrared, providing additional in-depth constraints to the formation and evolution of exoplanetary systems. The post-doc position will contribute to both the advent of GPAO, the GRAVITY+ extreme adaptive optics system, and the science programs ExoVLTI that continues and extends to new windows the ongoing GRAVITY exopanetary science program.
