OFFER DESCRIPTION

The candidate will be part of the research unit CHAM - Centre for the Humanities, with the following work plan:

 

a) Develop research activities related with the objectives of CHAM’s strategic project, and with the purpose of presenting and publishing scientific results;

b) Submit, annually, at least one international publication, peer-reviewed in a specialized journal;

b) Develop research activities related with the editorial project of CHAM about Frontiers and collaborate in the development of its publication;

c) Collaborate in the development of other editorial projects at CHAM;

d) Collaborate in the preparation of applications for national and international funding programmes;

e) Collaborate in the development of activities related with science communication.

 

Duration: 12 months, eventuallys renewable up to the limit of 36 months. Due to begin July 2022.

 

Applications must be formalized, mandatorily, by email sent to the following address cham@fcsh.unl.pt, with the subject “Concurso CHAM BIPD”, accompanied by the following documents:

 

a) Curriculum Vitae;

b) Graduations certificates;

c) A scientific publication example of the candidate's merit (can be shared via a hyperlink);

d) Declaration under oath that, with the concession of this grant agreement, the candidate does not exceed an accumulated period of one year in this type of grant, consecutive or interpolated, and that he has not already been a beneficiary of any other type of grant, directly or indirectly financed by the FCT;

e) In the case of academic degrees obtained in foreign higher education institutions, it is necessary to present the recognition of the degrees obtained, in accordance with DL No. 66/2018, of 16 August; or, in the absence of recognition at the time of the application, declaration under oath that this recognition will be made before contracting the fellowship in case of being the selected candidate. However, it is mandatory to present the recognition up until the time of the signature of the grant agreement.

Researcher Profiles: 

In compliance with article 7 of the FCT Research Grants Regulation (Reg. no. 950/2019), the following are mandatory admission requirements:

a) to hold a PhD, obtained in the three years prior to the date of submission of this application;

b) to have carried out the research work that led to the referred doctoral degree in an institution other than the institution hosting the grant;

c) to not exceed, with the conclusion of the scholarship contract in question, including possible renewals, an accumulated period of three years in this type of scholarship, consecutive or interpolated;

d) to not have previously had a post-doctoral research fellowship contract with FCSH.

 

Preferred evaluation factors are:

e) to have a PhD in History, or any other related area;

f) to have an international research path;

g) to have experience in submitting applications to international funding programmes;

h) to have experience in promoting and/or participating in science communication activities.

Benefits

The fellowship amount corresponds to €1.686, paid monthly and by bank transfer, according to the FCT, I.P. stipends values in Portugal: http://www.fct.pt/apoios/bolsas/valores.

 

To this amount is added the social security scheme for grant recipients – the Voluntary Social Insurance corresponding to the 1st scale of earnings mentioned in Article 36 of Decree-Law 40/90, of 1 February, if the candidate chooses it, as well as the personal accident insurance.

Selection process

The selection methods to be used will be the following and correspond to a final classification of 0-20 values:

1. Curriculum Assessment (0-15 values)

1.1. Academic qualifications (0-6 values)

1.2. Complementary training, scientific and professional path (0-9 values)

2. Interview (0-5 values), to combine the curriculum evaluation with a fine analysis of the necessary adequacy of the candidate's profile to the work plan of the scholarship.

The final results of the evaluation will be sent to all candidates by email, through a list ordered by final grade obtained.

 

After the provisional list of evaluation results has been communicated, candidates have a period of 10 working days to comment, if they wish, in a prior hearing of interested parties, pursuant to Articles 121 and following in the Code of Administrative Procedure. The final decision must be taken within a maximum period of 60 working days after the conclusion of the prior hearing of interested parties or the public consultation.

Complaints may be lodged against the final decision within 15 working days, or appeal to the highest executive body of the financing entity within 30 working days, both after the respective notification.
