OFFER DESCRIPTION

Professor Ricard Zapata-Barrero, established at the Department of Political and Social Sciences at Universitat Pompeu Fabra (Barcelona) is interested in receiving Expressions of Interest of potential candidates for the Marie Sklodowska - Curie Postdoctoral Fellowships 2022 call.

Prof. Zapata-Barrero’s research interests cover several terrains related to migration and diversity, as well as general political theory and normative theory. He is involved in several international research projects at present, for instance, EUMedMi: Mapping European Mediterranean Migration StudiesPLURISPACE: Negotiating Diversity in Expanded European Public Spaces; and The International Intercultural Cities Comparative Study.,

He is interested in receiving candidates focusing on either of the following fields of research: i) Mediterranean migration; ii) Urban migration governance and/or iii) Diversity and interculturalism. The research will be supervised by Professor Ricard Zapata-Barrero in the frame of UPF's research group GRITIM-UPF. This is a dynamic and interdisciplinary research group where several of the members are former MSCA fellows, earlier supervised by Professor Zapata-Barrero.

Benefits

The annual budget includes funding for salary, research costs and a contribution to the overhead costs of the host organisation. Salary is not negotiable and based on Horizon Europe Marie Skłodowska-Curie rates. Fellows will have their offices at the UPF main campus (Ciutadella). The campus offers libraries and IT services, language training and cultural/sports services. From their office, fellows will have remote access to the UPF libraries, to inter-library lending, IT Services and to an extensive range of electronic resources including journals.

Eligibility criteria

At the deadline for the submission of proposals to the European Commission (September 14, 2022), researchers:

  • shall be in possession of a PhD;
  • must be within the first 8 years of experience after having the PhD (maternity and paternity exceptions apply as well as time spent outside the EU -if it is your case, please contact us);
  • must not have resided or carried out their main activities in Spain for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately prior to the above mentioned deadline.

Selection process

Researchers interested in obtaining a sponsorship should check to fulfill the eligibility criteria for the Marie Sklodowska-Curie actions and send an expression of interest containing the following:

  • Curriculum Vitae (max 3 A4 pages)
  • Summary statement of the research proposal (max. 3 A4 pages)
  • Motivation letter (max. 2 A4 page)

Expressions of interest must be submitted by the 30th of April 2022 by email (Object of the email "Marie Curie application" - GRITIM). Candidates will be informed of the results of the pre-selection by the 15th of May. 

Successful candidates will prepare a research project together with Prof. Zapata and UPF's Research Service. The deadline for the final submission of proposals to the UPF Commission has been set for September 14, 2022. However, there will be several internal deadlines to be met i.e., a first draft shall be sent by June 15th; a second one by late July and a third one by August 22nd.

Templates and guidance will be provided to the successful candidates by UPF's research service.
