OFFER DESCRIPTION

We offer a position for a Research Assistant in Bioinformatics with a focus on the analysis of high-throughput single-cell transcriptomics/ epigenomics data and developing new analytical and scalable computational tools thereof. The candidate should have a background in math and computer sciences. No medical or genomics background is required, just inclination to acquire such knowledge is a must.

The group is led by Dr Marcin Tabaka (PI) and leverages high-throughput single-cell RNA and ATAC sequencing to address fundamental questions in biomedical research (https://tabaka-lab.org).

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Participation in research projects and attendance at team meetings to share results
  2. Developing and implementing machine learning algorithms for analysis of high-dimensional single-cell genomics data
  3. Designing and executing data analysis strategies of biological data
  4. Collaboration with experimentalists and computational researchers

Eligibility criteria

  1. B.Sc. or M.Sc. degree in Math, Statistics, Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology or related quantitative discipline or student status
  2. Familiarity with statistics and machine learning
  3. Fluency in Python or R
  4. Familiarity with Unix command-line tools
  5. Competences of the candidate with respect to specific tasks in a research project
  6. Awards and distinctions

Selection process

Successful candidates fulfilling the main eligibility criteria and qualifications will be invited for an interview. Competition results shall be announced no earlier than 10.03.2022.

Skills/Qualifications

  1. B.Sc. or M.Sc. degree in Math, Statistics, Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology or related quantitative discipline or student status
  2. Background in statistics and machine learning
  3. Fluency in Python or R
  4. Familiarity with Unix command-line tools
  5. Excellent communication and organizational skills
  6. Ability to interact effectively in an interdisciplinary team
  7. Proficiency in English, both spoken and written
  8. Good communication skills
  9. Involvement in student and professional organizations, participation in conferences is a plus.
