The Institute for Egyptology at the University of Vienna comprises a dynamic team of international researchers and is actively involved in numerous archaeological research projects in Egypt. In particular, the Institute is conducting excavations in the Late Period necropolis of el-Sheikh Fadl in Middle Egypt (https://egyptology.univie.ac.at/forschung/projekte/laufende-projekte/pro...). We are looking for a Post-Doc. University research assistant with a doctorate in Egyptology (focus on archaeology) in hand and solid field experience in archaeological excavations. The successful applicant will be actively involved in the fieldwork work and support the project’s director, Prof. Dr. E. Christiana Köhler, in research as well as with teaching Egyptology classes at the University of Vienna.
Your responsibilities involve the preparation and operation of excavations in Egypt, supervision of students and staff, post-excavation analysis, writing of reports, database maintenance and publication of research results. In addition, you will contribute to the teaching of university classes and the promotion of the institute's interests.
Active participation in research, teaching and administration. This involves:
- Developing and strengthening the independent research profile
- International publications and presentations
- Independent teaching of courses as defined by the collective agreement
- Supervision of students
- Participation in evaluation measures and quality assurance
- Involvement in the department administration as well as in teaching and research administration
