OFFER DESCRIPTION

The PAST team within the University of Excellence IMSErt - Interacting Minds, Societies, Environments is seeking applicants for 1 year research adjunct position in archaeology at the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń (Faculty of Historical Sciences).

The PAST conducts multidisciplinary studies covering epochs from the Paleolithic to Modern Times. The main research topics of the team include socio-cultural (magic, rituals, religion,economy), socio-natural (exploitation of fauna and plant resources, migrations, changes in the natural environment, extinction of species) and technological phenomena (production of objects,exploitation and processing of raw materials). We form a team that uses modern research tools, exceeding disciplinary, focusing on the problem-oriented research.

The postdoc position is part of a new project - Initiative of Excellence - Research University, under which Nicolaus Copernicus University in Torun was selected as one of the ten best universities in Poland and supported by additional funds for the development of scientific potential. The Centre of Excellence IMSErt is the flagship institution within the project, the only one dedicated specifically to research in the humanities and social sciences. It is characterised by opening to new research areas, strong internationalisation, high competitiveness and scientific excellence.

Gross Salary: 11 500 PLN

Offer Requirements

Skills/Qualifications

 

1. Master's degree.

2. PhD in humanities.

3. Research focusing on one of the following fields:

  • history of research on prehistoric flint mining in Europe
  • methods of research on prehistoric flint mines with settlement remains as well as exchange and distribution networks

4. Research and academic output:

  • publications in reviewed journals (with particular emphasis on those published in the Web of Science or Scopus databases), enclosing copies of three selected publications is recommended
  • active participation in international academic and research conferences
  • participating in research grant projects
  • experience in international academic cooperation (e.g. internships, academic grants, etc.

5. Proficiency in English and the selected Central and Eastern European language (oral and written).
