OFFER DESCRIPTION

A tender is now open for the attribution of one Research Grant for Graduates, on project financing (POCI), Incentive System for Research and Technological Development (SI IDT), Notice 12/SI/2020 – Corporate R&DT (Co-promotion, Partnerships International), Project No. POCI-01-0247-FEDER-69949, of the GILT Research Unit - Games, Interaction & Learning Technologies of the Superior Institute of Engineering of Porto (ISEP), under the following conditions:

 

1. SCIENTIFIC AREA

Computer Engineering, Informatics or similar

 

2. ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Degree in Computer Engineering, Informatics or similar

 

3. DURATION

The fellowship will have a duration of 6 months, starting in January 2022, and may be renewed according to the project's objectives and budget, up to the limit established by law, to be held on an exclusive basis, in accordance with the regulations for advanced training of human resources of the Foundation for Science and Technology and ISEP.

 

4. PURPOSE OF ACTIVITY / WORK PLAN

The activity aims to contribute to improving social inclusion and promoting inclusive tourism. We will investigate and develop an automated platform to promote fluid bilingual communication, using both fixed and mobile devices. We will promote efficient communication and digital literacy, exploring bilingual interfaces and games.

 

Scholarship:

The scholarship holder will:

a) Understand, analyze and develop communication platforms.

b) Design and apply Human-Machine Interaction processes

c) Analyze, design, implement and evaluate machine translation processes and games

d) Analyzing, evaluating and disseminating research results.

 

5. APPLICABLE LEGISLATION AND REGULATIONS

Research Fellowship Holder Statute, approved by Portuguese Law No. 40/2004, of 18 August; Regulation for Studentships and Fellowships of the Foundation for Science and Technology, approved by Regulation No. 950/2019, published in the 2nd series - Part C, of ​​the Diário da República, of December 16, 2019 and Regulation of Research Scholarships of ISEP, all in their current writings.

 

6. SCIENTIFIC ORIENTATION AND WORKPLACE

The work will be developed at ISEP – Games Interaction and Learning Technologies, under the scientific guidance of Professor Paula Escudeiro.

 

7. MONTHLY MAINTENANCE ALLOWANCE

Monthly scholarship value: €835.98, paid by bank transfer (according to the FCT table of values: http://www.fct.pt/apoios/bolsas/valores.phtml.pt), supported through the PAD number C50917.

 

8. METHODS OF SELECTION AND JURY COMPOSITION

The evaluation of candidates will take into account three equally weighted components: the classification obtained in higher education; previous experience in scientific/academic projects or professional work and the candidate's evaluation taking into account an interview that will be carried out (all weighted on a scale from 0 to 20).

After analyzing the applications and evaluating the candidates according to the components in question, the candidates will be ranked in descending order of scores. In case of equality, the tie will be based on the highest value obtained in the interview. If the tie remains, the tiebreaker will be the classification obtained in the higher course. If the tie still remains, the jury will carry out a vote where all members of the jury vote, with the President of the Jury having the casting vote in case of new equality.

 

The jury responsible for the selection process will consist of:

Professor, PhD, Paula Escudeiro (responsible for the project at ISEP) (President);

Professor, PhD, Ana Barata (Member);

Professor, PhD, Nuno Filipe Escudeiro (Member),

and as an alternate member, Professor, PhD, Isabel Azevedo (Substitute Member).

 

9. METHOD OF SUBMISSION OF APPLICATIONS

Applications must be formalized by email sent to pmo@isep.ipp.pt, attaching the following documents:

 Curriculum Vitae;

 Certificate of Qualifications / Document proving ownership of the academic degree and diploma, of the respective recognition when awarded by foreign higher education institutions or document proving the request for recognition;

 Proof of enrollment in study cycles leading or not leading to an academic degree;

 Other supporting documents considered relevant.

If the qualification has been granted by a foreign higher education institution, it must comply with the provisions of Decree-Law No. 66/2018, of August 16, and any formalities established therein must be fulfilled by the time of hiring.

 

10. DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION OF APPLICATIONS

Applications are received from from november 26th to december 13th.

 

11. METHOD OF ADVERTISING/NOTIFICATION OF RESULTS

The results of the evaluation will be announced via email, to the email address indicated in the application process.

 

12. CLAIM AND APPEAL PROCEDURES

If the result is unfavorable, the candidates have a period of 10 working days, after the disclosure of the results of the candidacy evaluation, to express their opinion, if desired, in the hearing of interested parties, under the terms provided for in the Code of Administrative Procedure.

 

A hierarchical appeal may be filed against the final decision referred to in the previous numbers, to the President of ISEP, within 15 working days after the respective notification.

 

13. SELECTION RESERVE

ISEP reserves the right to appeal to unselected candidates, in order of ranking, to hire a scholarship holder for the same project if the initially selected candidate withdraws.
