The Faculty of Psychology and Education Sciences of the University of Porto (FPCEUP) hereby opens this

Call for Applications for one research grant for the project “CidadaniaPeloClima: Criando Pontes entre

Cidadania e Ciência para a Adaptação Climática” (ClimActiC) (ref.ª NORTE-01-0145-FEDER-000071),

financed by NORTE 2020 – Programa Operacional Regional do Norte and developed at Faculty of Psychology

and Educational Sciences (FPCEUP) of the University of Porto in the Research Groups on Social Psychology

and Development and Education.

1. Research field / Scientific area: Psychology

2. Admission requirements:

To apply for the research grant, applicants must comply with the following requirement, for which

documentary evidence must be provided:

a) Be a student enrolled in a doctoral program in the area Psychology, or be the holder of a Master

degree in Psychology enrolled in a non‐academic degree course integrated in the educational project

of a higher education institution, developed in association or cooperation with one or more R&D

units, a requirement to be duly proven at the time of signing the contract.

If the candidate holds a doctoral degree awarded by a foreign higher education institution, it must be

recognized by a Portuguese higher education institution, in accordance with the provisions of article 25 of

Decree-Law no. 66/2018 of 16 August, which approves the legal regime for the recognition of academic

degrees and higher education diplomas awarded by foreign higher education institutions and Article 4 (2)

(e) of Decree-Law no. 60/2018 of 3 August, and any formalities established therein be fulfilled up to the

date of the contracting act.

3. Preferred requirements:

a) Master degree in Psychology, specialization in Organizational, Social and Work Psychology, or in

Psychological Intervention, Education and Human Development;

b) Proven experience in research resorting to quantitative methodology;

c) Proven experience in instruments’ development and implementation of studies, preferably, online;

d) Proven experience in data analyses using software such as R, RStudio, SPSS, PROCESS;

e) Proficiency in academic English and scientific writing.

4. Work Plan:

The candidate will develop several activities within the scope of the project which include:

a) Updated literature review in the field of the project

b) Cooperation in the research design and rationale of the studies to be undertaken;

c) Translation/adaptation to Portuguese of instruments relevant to the project;

d) Planning and carrying out research tasks

e) Implementation of studies to collect online data or in person in lab;

f) Data collection keeping a permanent register of the methods used and the data already collected;

g) Cooperation in data analyses and preparation of result reports;

h) Cooperation in the writing, preparation and review of articles to be submitted for publication in

international journals;

i) Cooperation in the overall group research activities whenever appropriate.

5. Applicable Legislation and Regulations:

The present call is governed by the University of Porto Regulations for Research Fellowships approved by the

Regulation nº 184/2021, of 3rd March, and by the Research Fellowship Holder Statute (approved by Law no.

40/2004, of 18th August, in its current version).

6. Workplace:

The workplace will be at Center for Psychology of the Faculty of Psychology and Education Sciences of the

University of Porto, under the scientific supervision of Prof. Isabel Rocha Pinto, Isabel Macedo Pinto Abreu

Lima and Maria Adelina Acciaiuoli Barbosa Ducharne.

7. Duration:

The scholarship will last for 10 months. The contract, in an exclusive basis, can be renewed for equal or

different periods depending on institutional need and the availability of financial resources, until the

maximum duration of the project.

8. Monthly maintenance allowance amount:

The monthly maintenance allowance is 1.104,64€, according to FCT. Payment will be made by FPCEUP by

bank transference. In addition, the grant holder will be covered by personal accident insurance.

9. Evaluation methods:

Curriculum Assessment (CA) and, if so intended by the jury, an interview (I) to the three best classified

candidates of the CA. The final classification, on a scale of zero to 100, will be obtained using the following

formula: 0.8 x CA+ 0.2 x I.

If no interviews take place, the final classification will correspond to that of the CA.

The CA will consider the following evaluation points and ratio criteria:

a) Final mark in the Dissertation of the Master in Psychology or of the Integrated Master in Psychology

(25%);

b) Proven experience in research resorting to quantitative methodology (25%);

c) Proven experience in instruments’ development and implementation of studies, preferably, online

(20%);

d) Proven experience in quantitative data analyses (20%);

e) Proficiency in academic English and scientific writing (10%).

In the event that the selected scholarship holder withdraws, the final ranking list of candidates in this

competition may be used to replace them, until June 2022. If none of the candidates demonstrates that they

have the profile indicated to carry out the work plan, the jury reserves the right not to award the

scholarship to the competition.

10. Selection panel:

Chairperson: Professora Doutora Maria Adelina Acciaiuoli Faria Barbosa Ducharne, Assistant Professor at

FPCEUP;

Members:

Professora Doutora Isabel Rocha Pinto, Associate Professor at the FPCEUP;

Professora Doutora Isabel Maria Salvador Macedo Pinto Abreu Lima, Associate Professor at FPCEUP;

Doutora Alessandra da Silva Souza de Carvalho, Principal Investigator at CPUP/FPCEUP;

Alternate member:

Professora Doutora Maria de São Luís de Vasconcelos Fonseca e Castro Schoner, Full Professor at FPCEUP.

11. Disclosure of the results:

Final results will be communicated by email to the address provided by the candidates in the application

form (CV/Motivation letter).

In compliance with the provisions of the Article 121 of the Code of Administrative Procedure (“Código do

Procedimento Administrativo”), after being notified, candidates have 10 working days to submit a formal

rebuttal.

The final decision must be taken within a maximum period of 60 working days after the conclusion of the

preliminary hearing of interested parties or of the public consultation.

The Call for Applications is open until December 13, 2021.

message, please include the reference of the post FPCEUP | 1 BI | CPUP – ClimActiC.

The following documents are mandatory, under penalty of exclusion from the Call:

a) Motivation Letter;

b) Curriculum vitae;

c) Copy of the Master Certificate or Diploma with indication of the final classification in the course and

the classification in the dissertation;

d) Documents proving the required experience;

e) Other documents that the candidate may deem relevant to assess their merit (maximum of 4

documents).

Documents must be attached directly to the application message, without links to external

platforms/drives.

In order to guarantee the reading of all documents, the preferred recording format is the Portable

Document Format (.pdf). Files must be named with the candidate's first and last name and must not exceed

5 MB, as a whole. These can be compressed in .zip format.
