OFFER DESCRIPTION

Call for six (6) research grants for a Ma Students in the area of Medieval Studies, sub-areas of History, History of Art, Archaeology and Literature.

 

A call for tenders for six (6) research grants for a MA Student is currently open in the project: IEM Strategic Project – Programmatic Funding with reference UIDP/00749/2020

 

The scholarship is intended to fund, for three months, the best research project presented, and aims to consolidate the scientific training of the scholarship holder, through the development of research work leading to the attainment of the respective academic degree.

The research fellow must integrate his/her research into the Strategic Development Plan defined by the IEM-NOVA FCSH for the years 2020-2023,

Taking into account the theme of your master's thesis, you should propose a research project and the respective work plan to be developed during the three-month duration of the scholarship.

 

Duration of the grants: The scholarships will be for three (3) months, scheduled to start on January, 2022, non-renewable.

 

Supervision: The scientific supervision will be under the responsibility of two supervisors previously agreed upon by the candidate, one of whom, at least, must belong to the IEM, as an integrated member with a PhD and be cumulatively supervisor or co-supervisor of the master thesis of the research fellow.

 

Applications must be formalized, obligatorily, by sending an application letter accompanied by the following documents:

1. Curriculum Vitae;

2. BA Certificate;

3. Motivation Letter;

4. Research project for the three-month duration of the scholarship and Work Plan (maximum 4 pages).

In the case of academic degrees awarded by foreign higher education institutions, and in order to ensure the application of the principle of equal treatment to applicants holding foreign and national academic degrees, the recognition of these degrees and the conversion of the respective final classification into the Portuguese classification scale is mandatory.

The recognition of foreign academic degrees and diplomas as well as the conversion of the final classification into the Portuguese classification scale may be requested in any public higher education institution, or in the Directorate General of Higher Education (DGES, only in the case of automatic recognition). Regarding this matter, we suggest consulting the DGES portal through the following address: http://www.dges.gov.pt.

Entry requirements:

Graduates in one of the following areas: Archeology, History, History of Art or Literature, enrolled in a Master's course in any of the scientific areas listed above.

 

Preferential requirements: Having completed the Master's curricular year and starting the non-curricular component.

It is essential, under penalty of non-admission, to attach the following documents to the application:

Monthly maintenance allowance:

The grant amount corresponds to €835.98, paid monthly and by bank transfer, according to the table of scholarships values directly attributed by FCT, I.P., in the country (http://www.fct.pt/apoios/bolsas/valores). To this value is added a personal accident insurance, and optional voluntary social insurance at the first level.
