A tender is now open for the attribution of a Research Grant under the project “TEX4WOUNDS - Desenvolvimento de materiais têxteis avançados para tratamento de feridas” (n.º POCI-01-0247-FEDER-047029), Funded under the Incentive System for Research and Technological Development, R&DT Projects in Co-Promotion (Notice 17/SI/2019), to be developed by the company SOMANI in co-promotion with non-business entities of the CITEVE R&I System and The Centre for Interdisciplinary Research in Health (CIIS), of the Instituto de ciências da Saúde of Porto, Catholic University of Portugal and with the company FOURMAG, under the following conditions:

Scientific Area: Nursing

Admission requirements:

Applicants for the Research scholarship must, on the application date, be enrolled, or present proof of conditional enrollment in a PhD in the scientific area of Nursing. Candidates must have completed a degree with a minimum average of 15 values and a master's degree with a minimum average of 15 values in the scientific area of Nursing, Advanced Nursing or Nursing Sciences. The candidate must show interest in the scientific area and be able to develop teamwork, in a multidisciplinary and multicultural environment. It is essential that candidates have a good command of the English language and have research experience.

Preferred factors will be considered, the experience in the area of Community Health and Public Health Nursing, Medical-Surgical or Mental Health and with projects related to tissue viability and wound treatment. Preferred factors will also be considered the experience in research projects and evidence from international scientific publications.


Work plan:

Taking into account the context and the social and economic impact of wounds on users, caregivers and health systems, as well as the technological evolution, cost, constraints and difficulties of using dressing materials already described, the TEX4WOUNDS consortium intends to develop a range of advanced devices that provide an effective and cost-effective response in wound care. The TEX4WOUNDS project has as a global objective a range of products for cleaning and wound care, based on new textile architectures, resorting to plush warp mesh structures, and functional fibers and natural additives for impregnation.

The Research Fellow will participate in all project tasks, from literature review to research data collection, analysis and writing articles for peer-reviewed international journals.

The work will be carried out at the Universidade Católica Portuguesa, Regional Center of Porto, under the scientific guidance of Professor Doctor Paulo Alves, with field trips planned to different destinations in the metropolitan area of Porto with the objectives of (i) collecting documental information ( ii) carrying out task-specific research methodologies.

Duration of scholarship(s):

The scholarship scheduled to start on 01-15-2022 will last for 12 months on an exclusive basis

Amount of monthly maintenance allowance: The amount of the scholarship corresponds to €1104.64 according to the table of values of the scholarships awarded directly by FCT, I.P. in the country (https://www.fct.pt/apoios/bolsas/valores.phtml.pt ) and will be paid by bank transfer.

Selection Methods:

The selection methods to be used will be the following: i) curriculum assessment (40%); ii) previous experience (60%). If necessary, the 3 best positioned candidates may be interviewed, and in this situation, the weighting will be curricular evaluation (35%); ii) previous experience (50%) and selection interview (15%).

Form of publicity/notification of results: The jury deliberates according to the selection criteria adopted and disclosed. The jury's meetings are recorded in minutes that contain a summary of what took place in them. After completing the application of the selection criteria, the jury proceeds to prepare the ranked list, in order of ranking of eligible candidates. The ranking list of eligible candidates will be posted on the premises of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa, in Porto, located at Rua de Diogo Botelho, 1327, 4169-005 Porto - Portugal, each candidate being notified of their position on the list classification via email. Ineligible candidates will be notified by email, explaining the missing eligibility elements.

Complaint and appeal procedures: Candidates have a period of ten working days, after the disclosure referred to in the previous number, to comment, in the context of a prior hearing.

Deadline for acceptance of the scholarship: Within ten working days following the notification of the scholarship award, the selected candidate must confirm in writing their availability to start the scholarship on the proposed date. Not doing so or not having availability, the candidate placed in the next position will be called.

Form of submission and deadline for applications:

Candidates present their candidacy under the terms mentioned in the previous point, from 11/25/2021 until 12/13/2021 (until 17:00, Lisbon time).

You will need to submit the following documents:

1) Cover letter, identifying the title and reference of the project, describing the candidate's motivation and professional goals;

2) Detailed Curriculum Vitae (should contain all the elements that allow the assessment of admission requirements, namely language skills and research experience).

3) Copy of the certificate(s) of qualifications conferring an academic degree in the terms requested in the notice, including the final classifications.

4) Record of recognition of academic degrees awarded by foreign higher education institutions and record of the conversion of the respective final classification to the Portuguese classification scale[1]

5) Proof of enrollment in a Higher Education Institution in study cycles leading to an academic degree (PHD).

Only applications received during the opening period of the above mentioned competition will be considered in this competition.

Candidates who incorrectly formalize their application or who do not prove the requirements of this competition are excluded from admission to the competition. False statements made by candidates will be punished under the law.
