A tender is now open for the attribution of 1 Research Grant (BI) within the scope of the LIFE Research Project LANDSCAPE FIRE PROJECT - New procedures for forest fire prevention, with reference No. LIFE18 ENV/PT/000361, pursuant to the provisions of subparagraph a) of paragraph 1 of article 2 of the Research Fellowship Statute in the wording given by Decree-Law No. 123/2019 of 28 August, under the following conditions:

Amount of monthly maintenance allowance: The amount of the scholarship will be € 835.98, according to the table of scholarship values in force established for this type of scholarship by the FCT. (http://www.fct.pt/apoios/bolsas/valores)
Eligibility criteria
Admission requirements:
Being enrolled in a master's degree in the field of Agronomic and Forestry Sciences; or Being Graduated in Agronomic Engineering, Forestry Engineering, or similar, and being enrolled in a non-graduated degree course, in a higher education institution, developed in association or cooperation with one or more R & D units.

Preferential conditions are:
Proven experience in the aforementioned scientific area, in vegetation inventories, as well as participation in research, demonstration and dissemination activities.
Driving license and physical strength to carry out field work.
Selection process
The selection and ranking methods to be used will be the following: Curriculum Evaluation and Selection Interview. The final classification, used for the ranking of candidates, is expressed on a scale from 0 to 20 values and is given by the following formula: CF = 0.6×AC + 0.4×ES [where AC = 0.6×HA + 0.4×EP], where CF = Final Classification, AC = Curriculum Evaluation, ES = Selection Interview, HA = Academic Qualifications and EP = Professional Experience in activities mentioned above, and in which all parameters are expressed on a scale from 0 to 20 values.
The three best classified in the AC criterion (HA + EP) will be selected for the interview. The jury reserves the right not to award the research grant in competition depending on the result of the evaluation of the applications and the adequacy or otherwise of the objectives of the IPV.

Skills/Qualifications
The candidate should have experience in different tasks of the Life Landscape Fire Project - New Methodologies for Forest Fire Prevention project in the context of the Activity Plan: 1) Review of literature on control of shrubland and woody invasive by preventive forestry, grazing techniques and prescribed burning; 2) Inventory of vegetation in the field; 3) UAV survey of the pilot areas of the project; 4) Monitoring grazing and prescribed burning tasks; 5) harvesting soil and vegetation samples; 6) Assessment of the impact of post-pastoral and post-fire actions; 7) Determination of physico-chemical parameters in the laboratory; 8) Geographic information systems background and statistical data modelling; 9) Critical analysis of data and results, according to the objectives of the project; 10) writing reports and scientific papers on project results; 11) Participation and organization of meetings between project partners; 12) Preparation of meetings for dissemination activities.
