The Department of Numismatics and Monetary History at the University of Vienna is the only autonomous university department of this orientation in Europe. At the same time, it is the only place where it is possible to study the subject of numismatics and monetary history in its full methodological and technical variety, covering all eras from antiquity to the modern period.

Active participation in research, teaching and administration. This involves
- Developing and strengthening the independent research profile
- Involvement in research projects / research studies
- International publications and presentations
- Responsibility for project applications and the acquisition of third-party funding
- Preparing / writing a (publication-ready) habilitation thesis
- Independent teaching of courses as defined by the collective agreement
- Supervision of students
- Participation in evaluation measures and quality assurance
- Involvement in the department administration as well as in teaching and research administration Active participation in research, teaching and administration. This involves

Dissertation in numismatics and monetary history or a cultural science subject (esp. history, economic history, classical archaeology, art history) with a pronounced numismatic and monetary history focus, completed with above-average success. Profound knowledge in ancient, medieval or modern numismatics and monetary history as well as numismatic interests for the other epochs. Teaching skills and ability to work in a team. The ability and willingness to further develop numismatics and monetary history in research and teaching as a part of the Digital Humanities is explicitly desired.
