APPLICATION DEADLINE06/12/2021 23:00 - Europe/London
LOCATIONPortugal › Caparica
A tender is open for the attribution of one Research Scholarship within the scope of the R&D project “Esquecer eficazmente o que tem que ser esquecido”, reference PTDC/CCI-INF/32219/2017, funded by Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia, I.P., through national funds (PIDDAC), under the following conditions:
1. Work Plan:
Computational Models of Biological Regulatory Networks, e.g., encoded as boolean logical models, are key in contributing to a better understanding of the cellular processes they represent, but their construction is a manual task, hence prone to error. As we dynamically obtain new observations, such logical models of regulatory networks need to be checked and possibly changed to restore consistency. The goal is to develop a tool to dynamically check and restore consistency of boolean logical models of regulatory networks.
The work will be developed at the installations of the Department of Computer Science, Faculdade de Ciências e Tecnologia, Universidade Nova de Lisboa, under scientific supervision of Prof. Doutor João Alexandre Carvalho Pinheiro Leite, the contracting entity being NOVA.id.FCT – Associação para a Inovação e Desenvolvimento da FCT.
3. Fellowship duration:
The grant has a duration of 4 months, starting in principle in December 2021. The contract may be renewed within the duration of the project.
4. Application deadline and form of application submission:
Application is open between November 22 and December 6, 2021.
Candidates should apply by sending cv, a letter of motivation and declaration on honor that he or she meets the requirements to enroll in a master's, integrated master's, doctoral or non-academic course, via e-mail to Matthias Knorr (firstname.lastname@example.org) indicating the reference PTDC/CCI-INF/32219/2017/BI/3.
Documents that are of mandatory submission, for purposes of the studentship contracting: bachelor’s certificate in Computer Science (or a corresponding course)* and proof of enrolment in in a master's, integrated master's, doctoral or non-academic course.
* In case of foreign academic degrees, and to guarantee the application of the principle of equal treatment to applicants with national and foreign academic degrees, it is mandatory to submit the recognition of such degrees and the conversion of the respective final grade to the Portuguese grading scale.

- Monthly maintenance allowance amount:
The grant value is €835,98, based on the reference tables of grant values as indicated by FCT, I.P. in Portugal, and the payment is realized by bank transfer.
- Selection criteria:
The selection criteria are the following: in the first phase, a classification (on a scale from 0 to 20) is created, based on a) the evaluation of the cv (25%), and b) relevant experience for the execution of the project (25%).
