OFFER DESCRIPTION

The selected candidate will be responsible for:

  1. Conducting laboratory analysis of strontium and oxygen isotopes analysis from animal remains (mammal teeth, fish bones)
  2. Collecting samples for strontium and oxygen analysis, both from animal remains in archaeological collections and rock sampling during field work in Estonia for strontium isotopic background analysis.
  3. Contributing to the writing of scientific articles for peer-reviewed journals
  4. Presenting project results at international conferences
  5. Participating in other research activities organised within the project

  1. Full-time position for at least 12 months, with an intended extension depending on performance up to 36 months
  2. Gross monthly remuneration: 10000 PLN/month, net approx. 6000 PLN/month

Skills/Qualifications

  1. PhD degree in biological sciences or a related area, awarded or to be awarded before December 2021, but no earlier than 7 years ago
  2. At least 4-years experience in laboratory work
  3. Knowledge and experience with measurements of Sr (87Sr/86Sr) isotope composition
  4. Knowledge and experience with oxygen (18O) isotope analysis
  5. Knowledge in sampling teeth for isotopic analyses (collecting samples using dental drill, mounting in epoxy resin, polishing of the thick sections etc.)
  6. Knowledge in histological measurements in mammal dental enamel and estimations of crown formation time
  7. Published at least one scientific article in a peer-reviewed journal as the first author
  8. Driving license
  9. Well seen experience in analyses of strontium and oxygen isotopes from fossil mammals confirmed by articles, conference presentations, etc.
  10. Internships in a Polish or foreign research team are important additional advantages
  11. Work commitment, propriety, good organisation skills
