OFFER DESCRIPTION

Our lab is focused on understanding the underlying mechanisms of how genetic and environmental alterations of the heme signaling and the oxidative stress pathways impact on lung tumor evolution. Furthermore, the lab aims to develop new and improved therapeutic tools to treat and prevent lung cancer.

The lab is currently seeking to hire a highly motivated individual nearing completion of his/her Ph.D., or interested in having a second postdoc, and available to start in early 2022 (preferably February 2022). This full-time position is for 2 years, and it will be funded by the Agence Nationale de la Recherche (ANR). Prospective candidates with the following skillsets are encouraged to apply: molecular biology, biochemistry and tumor mouse models.

Our lab is highly collaborative, and the postdoc will have the opportunity to work in close collaboration with a diverse group of scientists including molecular biologists, biochemists, immunologists, and clinicians. This position will also provide ample opportunity for presentation and publication and foster the candidate’s career development. The compensation will be very competitive.

Additional Information

The lab’s research interests lie in understanding how the heme/oxidative stress pathway regulates protein destruction via the Ubiquitin-Proteasome pathway, and transcription via modulation of transcriptional sensors. We leverage our mechanistic findings to uncover how deregulation of these pathways rewire cancer cells signaling systems and sustain lung tumor pathogenesis. Our long-term goal is to identify new strategies and tools to develop precision therapeutics for lung cancer patients. In this effort, the lab bridges knowledge of basic and translational science.

The lab uses techniques, such as molecular biology, biochemistry, mouse genetics, proteomics, transcriptomics, and bioinformatics to tackle the issues. Trainees will have access to state-of-the-art instrumentation throughout the CRCM / “Institut Paoli-Calmettes” hospital, as well as resources available through collaborations at the Marseille area including Luminy research center and “la Timone” hospital.

Qualifications

  • Strong publication track record.
  • A doctoral degree in Molecular biology, Biochemistry, Genetics, or a similar field.
  • Personal capabilities: Creative thinking, ability to work independently, willingness to learn new skills, excellent problem solving and organizational skills, and the ability to handle multiple tasks are expected. Priority goes to highly motivated and organized individuals committed to doing impactful research, with great attention to detail and excellent organization and team-work skills.
  • English proficiency (oral and written) is required.
  • Ph.D. or MD
