- Methodological choices in sclerochronology according to the mollusc species treated and available in the environment of the sites (e.g. Callista umbonella in UAE, Marcia recens in Oman), on the basis of a calibration on the present species already carried out.
- making and microscopic observation of thin slides
- counting and measuring shellfish growth increments
- micro-drill sampling and biogeochemical analysis processing
- calibration of growth patterns and time frame of each species
- determination of harvest season(s)
- processing and analysis of results
- synthesis of the study and drafting of reports for integration into the theme
To determine the seasonality of the occupations of the shell middens of the United Arab Emirates and Oman and to acquire paleo-environmental data (sea surface temperature variations, influence of the monsoon...).
The CReAAH is a highly multidisciplinary laboratory (Archaeology, Archaeosciences, History). The work will be carried out in the CreAAH technical platform and Geosciences laboratory of the University of Rennes 1, and then in the Climate and Environmental Sciences laboratory in Gif-sur-Yvette under the direction of Dr. F. Bassinot (UMR 8212 - LSCE) and J.F. Berger (UMR 5600 EVS) within the framework of the ANR NéoArabia, with interaction with other teams, in particular UMR 7209 - AASPE (MNHN-Paris, Dr. Bearez and C.Mougne).

- Ability to synthesise and analyse
- Sense of observation
- Knowledge of sclerochronological and sclerochemical methods
- Knowledge of technical tools for producing thin sections, micro-coring on shells and isotopic analyses
- Knowledge of oceanography, climatology, marine biology and Neolithic archaeology.
- Willingness to work in a team, mobility
