One full-time postdoctoral position is available at the Laboratory of Transplantation Immunobiology of the Department of Immunology, Institute of Biomedical Sciences, University of São Paulo, Brazil. The postdoctoral fellowship will join a multidisciplinary group of researchers to develop a project inserted at the study "Cell metabolism, microbiota and immune system: new paradigms in renal diseases", supported by FAPESP. In this project, we aim to study the role of inflammation, cell metabolism, and microbiota in acute and chronic kidney disease, in order to elucidate new pathophysiological mechanisms and strategies of diagnosis and treatment. The focus of this subproject is to clarify the relationship between the commensal microbiota of obese animals and the prognosis of acute kidney injury using a zebrafish model organism.
This opportunity is open to candidates of any nationality. The selected candidate will receive a Post-Doctoral fellowship from FAPESP for 17 months (Until March 2023) in the amount of R$ 7,373.10 monthly and a research contingency fund (15% of the annual value of the fellowship).

Applicants should have a demonstrated record of significant scientific accomplishment at the graduate level. Expertise in the area of cellular and molecular biology, microbiology, and background in immunology is preferred. Moreover, proven experience by scientific publication (papers, thesis, book chapters) or certificates, in care and handling of zebrafish larvae and adults, application of zebrafish models of inflammation in kidney, generation of germ-free zebrafish, development of transgenic/mutants by CRISPR-Cas9, fluorescent microscopy, cell dissociation and isolation, flow cytometry, immunofluorescence, western blotting, qPCR, whole-mount in situ hybridization, and cell culture are mandatory. Experience in student supervision is preferable. The candidate must present initiative, independence, and self-motivation in the research; advanced knowledge in English, and availability to carry out a scientific internship abroad. The experience in different laboratories (in Brazil or abroad) during the scientific training is a positive aspect to be considered in the selection process.
