YOUR TEAM

You will be working in a multicultural and multi-disciplinary group, where physicists, materials scientists, chemists and engineers collaborate, each with their expertise, to carry out a scientific activity with a shared research goal.

The Photonic Nanomaterials Research line is coordinated by Dr. Francesco Di Stasio, who has extensive experience in the development of optoelectronic devices based on colloidal nanocrystals. The research line aims at developing novel small-footprint light-emitting devices based on both single semiconductor nanocrystal and relative ensembles, thus obtaining quantum or classical light-sources.

Your main responsibilities will be:

  • Develop novel device fabrication techniques based on multi-functional substrates obtained via lithography

  • Exploit capillary assembly to obtain a control deposition of colloidal nanocrystals from solution

  • Optical characterization of the obtained devices and respective nanocrystals

  • Supervision of PhD students hired within the project framework

The European research council within the project NANOLED (ERC-StG 2019, 851794) finances this open position/research.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • A PhD in Physics, Materials Science, Chemistry or related fields and similar disciplines

  • Documented experience in solution-processing methods and/or nanocrystal characterization

  • Strong publication record

  • Ability to properly report, organize and publish research data

  • Documented experience in coaching junior scientists

  • Good command of spoken and written English

ADDITIONAL SKILLS

  • Experience in electron-beam or optical lithography, film-deposition systems and electron microscopy  

  • Good communication skills

  • Strong problem-solving attitude

  • High motivation to learn

  • Spirit of innovation and creativity

  • Good at time and priority management

  • Ability to work in a challenging and international environment

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a highly interdisciplinary environment
