Con il D.M. 10 agosto 2021, n. 1062 è stata stabilita la dotazione finanziaria e le relative modalità di impiego, a favore di questo Ateneo, a valere sul PON “Ricerca e Innovazione” 2014-2020, con riferimento alle Azioni IV.4 – “Dottorati e contratti di ricerca su tematiche dell’innovazione” e IV.6 “Contratti di ricerca su tematiche Green”, per l’attivazione di contratti di ricerca a tempo determinato di tipologia a) di cui alla legge 30 dicembre 2010, n. 240, Art. 24, comma 3.

Con nota del prot. n. 12025 del 8/9/2021, il Ministero dell’Università e della Ricerca ha precisato che “il DM 1062/2021 prevede che la copertura finanziaria dei ricercatori selezionati sarà assicurata con le risorse di cui al decreto sino al 31 dicembre 2023 e che la copertura finanziaria dei contratti per il periodo successivo al 31 dicembre 2023 dovrà essere finanziata dai singoli soggetti beneficiari delle risorse di cui all’art. 1, a carico del proprio bilancio. Gli atenei, pertanto, provvedono a finanziare la quota restante del contratto con risorse a carico del proprio bilancio. È consentito inoltre di utilizzare le risorse di cui al DM 737 del 25/06/2021 art. 2, punto 1 (la cui percentuale minima di impiego riservata ai contratti di ricerca può essere liberamente aumentata dagli stessi), o di altri fondi esterni”.

Title of research: Application of innovative methodologies in the field of historical research for the purposes of knowledge, conservation, enhancement and communication.

Idea progettuale: Elaboration of innovative mathematical models, based on material data collected in a dedicated database of moulded profiles of architectural stone members. Creation of a computer application for the recognition of profiles for the purposes of dating and identification of comparisons, aimed at historical research, conservation work and the valorisation of artifacts. Creation of a network of paths in mixed reality, usable through the Application to be designed, resulting from the combination of augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR) and Key Enable Technologies (internet of things, gamification). These technologies make it possible to create physical replicas (3D printing), which are essential for overcoming the sensory-perceptual barriers that affect various types of users indiscriminately. Creation of virtual tours (immersive projection, 360 video, AR glasses) for museums and archaeological parks, especially where conservation requirements suggest reducing or limiting the number of visitors. Creation of accurate and scientifically tested replicas for itinerant exhibitions as well as for local museums, which are often deprived of objects found in their territory in favour of more important museums.

Campo principale di ricerca: History of ancient architecture with a specific focus on the Greek world

Sotto-campo di ricerca: Testing of innovative technologies aimed at the three-dimensional digital survey of ancient artefacts with particular reference to the components of the architectural orders.

Dettagli dell’impegno di ricerca (obiettivi della produttività scientifica e relative caratteristi-che qualitative): The potential impact of the project on the national economic context has to be monitored through a periodical analysis of the results and of the expected benefits by the beneficiaries, which can be summarised as follows 1. on a scientific level, to minimise ambiguities and interpretation errors of the acquired data (chronology, geographical scope, culture of belonging, allogenic influences); 2. to provide a useful working tool for the elaboration of philologically correct anastylosis projects in the archaeological field; 3. to encourage the correct realisation of replicas, useful both in the field of restoration and anastylosis, and in the field of exhibitions and museums; 4. increase territorial and cultural heritage attractiveness by creating new physical and digital places for the protection, conservation and use of cultural heritage; 5. to intervene promptly to support restoration operations in case of sudden loss of assets due to destructive events (earthquakes, war episodes); 6. to assist public institutions in the development of complex strategic projects in the field of cultural heritage management and enhancement, involving heterogeneous actors and stakeholders. The results will be published in at least one paper each year presented at international conferences or in relevant scientific journals.

Dettagli dell’impegno didattico: The required didactic activities will be held within the subjects belonging to the scientific disciplinary sector ICAR/18 “History of Architecture” active at the Polytechnic University of Bari. Within these activities, up to 60 hours of official class teaching each academic year may be included.

Attività di didattica e di didattica integrativa: The didactic activity and supplementary didactic activity will concern complementary and assistance duties for supporting teaching activities active at the Polytechnic University of Bari and belonging to the scientific disciplinary sector ICAR/18 “History of Architecture”.

Servizio agli studenti: The researcher, within the overall 350 hours/year didactic duties, might assist the students in the preparation of exams and thesis within the scientific disciplinary sector ICAR/18 “History of Architecture”. Besides the researcher will have to carry out tutoring activities in the framework of the archaeological missions of the Department and of the Post Graduate School in Architectural Heritage and Landscape of the Polytechnic University of Bari.
