Offer Description
Chordata Motion is looking for a Data Scientist and Machine Learning enthusiast willing to take an active role in designing, developing, and implementing machine learning algorithms in the field of motion capture.
About Us
Chordata Motion is the first open-source motion capture system available on the market. Our mission is to deliver accurate inertial-based motion capture solutions in a modular, and flexible way.
Currently, our main development is a motion capture system composed at its core of hardware components and several software pieces that collaborate to generate the capture. The software exposes several layers of APIs, and the user can access the sources of the hardware. All these characteristics make the system completely customizable and make us refer to it as an open-source hardware/software motion capture framework.
After many years of purely open hardware/software availability, Chordata Motion has recently released the first commercial version of its hardware. Giving the already growing user base a more direct approach to the system. Users from all over the world are implementing our system in thriving sectors such as Virtual Reality, Sports and Health Research, Animation, Video Game Development, and Digital Arts.
Chordata Tech, the company behind Chordata Motion, is young, dynamic, and guided by the values of the open-source community: transparency, shared knowledge, and flexibility. Our products are conceived to follow these criteria, providing users with the tools and knowledge to make motion capture on their own terms.
How will you contribute?
Inertial motion capture relies on data coming from a sensor array which is processed by several estimation algorithms to obtain a moving skeleton. In the current state of the art, including our system, most of all of these algorithms are rule-based physical models. As in many other fields, the possible contribution of AI-based models becomes the mandatory next step to improve the quality, accuracy, or reliability of the results. The academic literature on the subject is vast and the first commercial products start to see the light.
You will be joining the Chordata Motion technical team to lead the implementation of AI-based processing in our framework.
The main challenges are:
- Familiarise yourself with the capture stream and the 3D virtual skeleton as a data structure.
- Use, analyze, and manipulate motion capture datasets.
- Design suitable AI models to be implemented.
- Deploy constrained hardware for real-time support.
