[Research Field and Overview]
Drug Discovery Computational Chemistry Platform Unit performs in silico screening for themes/projects being promoted in RIKEN Program for Drug Discovery and Medical Technology Platforms. We carry out highly accurate in silico screening campaigns using cutting edge molecular simulation and artificial intelligence (AI) technologies based on information of drug targets such as the protein structures and known inhibitors, and subsequent drug design considering drug efficacy as well as ADMET (pharmacokinetics and toxicity) profile.
Research Scientist: 1 position (Female only)
Quantum chemical calculations by methods applicable to macromolecules such as fragment molecular orbital (FMO) method will be conducted based on the three-dimensional structures of disease target proteins together with information on their known inhibitors and will be utilized for in silico screening and design of drug candidates. In addition to conventional methods, new design methods that combine quantum chemical calculations and AI will be developed. The operation of FMO-DB, which is the world first quantum chemical database for proteins managed by our laboratory, such as new data registration, cross-linking with other databases, and development of interaction analysis functions will be in charge.
Applicants can lead the field of drug discovery using quantum chemistry and should have experience in making presentations and publishing scientific articles as a corresponding author, as well as hosting scientific symposiums as a member of the organizing committee.
The successful candidate is expected to conduct research and development on topics specified above and to contribute to the management of the laboratory.
