OFFER DESCRIPTION

Our announcement is aimed at a person who will conduct research on the seasonality of Arctic zooplankton, mainly large copepods of the genus Calanus in the context of the food requirements of higher trophic levels, including planktivorous seabirds, in dynamically changing polar environment.

 

Tasks of a person employed:

  • data collection during research cruises in the Arctic
  • taxonomic and genetic identification of Arctic zooplankton
  • analysis and interpretation of data from laser optical plankton counter
  • preparing scientific publications in the Journal Citation Report (JCR) database
  • active applying for research funding and preparing grant applications
  • creating databases for the needs of the Laboratory
  • Lab representation during national and international conferences

a) for the purpose of recruitment of the candidate with whom the

employment contract will be concluded - pursuant to Article 6(1)(b) and

b) to defend against claims related to the ongoing recruitment process-pursuant to Article 6(1)(f) of the RODO,

may be made available to other entities authorised to obtain data on the

basis of legal regulations,

9) the person participating in the recruitment process, has the

following rights: to gain access to the content of his/her personal

data, to rectify and to complete personal data, to demand that the

processing of personal data be restricted and, if it’s possible under

the regulations of the RODO, the right to delete personal data, the

right to transfer data and the right to object to processing of personal

data.

10) if any data is processed by the Institute on the basis of consent

the person participating in the recruitment shall have the right to

withdraw consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of the

processing carried out on the basis of consent prior to its withdrawal,

11) a person participating in the recruitment shall have the right to

lodge a complaint to the President of the Office for the Protection of

Personal Data,

12) the obligation to provide personal data resulting from

regulations of law is a statutory requirement, in the remaining scope is

voluntary,

13) no automated decision will be taken with regard to your personal data.

    Environmental science: PhD or equivalent
  • REQUIRED LANGUAGES
    ENGLISH: Good
    POLISH: Good

Skills/Qualifications

  • scientific experience in the field of Arctic zooplankton ecology documented by at least five publications in the Journal Citation Report (with Impact Factor) and presentations at international conferences in the form of oral presentations (at least three presentations)
  • knowledge and at least five years of experience in the identification of Arctic zooplankton
  • experience in processing, analysing and visualising data obtained from automatic optical plankton counters documented by publications
  • marine zooplankton sampling experience, including participation in research cruises
  • knowledge of the ecology of planktivorous, arctic seabirds confirmed by publications
  • ability to perform zooplankton genetic analyzes and to interpret the obtained results
  • knowledge of the ecological and hydrodynamic processes shaping the functioning of zooplankton communities in the polar regions
  • experience in conducting research projects on the ecology of Arctic zooplankton, including PI role
  • experience gained during foreign research internships
  • fluency in English and Polish

  • experience in reporting research tasks and grants
