Offer Description
The Centre of Competence on Ageing (CCA) in the Department of Business Economics, Health and Social Care (DEASS) at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts of Southern Switzerland (SUPSI) in Manno, is recruiting a Researcher with a social or nursing science background. The researcher will collaborate on a new, 4-year project entitled National Implementation Programme: Strengthening quality of care in partnership with residential long-term care facilities for older people. The project is funded by the Federal Quality Commission, led by CURAVIVA and senesuisse, and conducted with the University of Basel and La Source Institute and School of Nursing in Lausanne. The primary objective of the project is the improvement of the quality of care delivered in long-term care facilities for older people in Switzerland.
Work percentage: 80-100%.
Expected start date: 1st April 2023 (or to be agreed).
Main Responsibilities
· Participate in all phases of data collection (the development and preparation of materials, structured and semi-structured interviews, focus group facilitation and participant observation) with multiple participant groups, including residents and their family members, and actors involved in the collection and use of data on the quality of care.
· Participate in the management and analysis of data.
· Support the management of the project and liaise with colleagues in the partner academic institutions and local partners.
· Contribute to the production of scientific output related to the project (reports, scientific publications, presentations at national and international conferences).
· Develop and expand expertise in the field of research on ageing, quality of care in long-term care settings and implementation science.
· Collaborate in the activities of the CCA and promote the climate of the centre.
What we are looking for
· A Master’s degree in the social sciences or in nursing science, a PhD is a preferential qualification.
· Research experience and a strong interest in the area of ageing. A background in research related to quality of care in long-term settings would be advantageous.
· Excellent skills in qualitative methodologies. The ability to manage and analyse quantitative data is an asset.
· Ability to conduct literature reviews, to critically evaluate existing literature and to synthesise the current state of knowledge.
· Fluency in Italian and English is essential for this position.
· Excellent communication skills (oral and written). A spirit of initiative and flexibility.
