PhD Position in Machine Learning,
University of Hildesheim, Germany

As a PhD student in our international ML research group you conduct
research in ML guided by a postdoc and professor, have the opportunity
to cooperate with companies, small and large, as well as with academic
partners on real-word ML-related problems, and are encouraged to
assist in teaching ML courses in our renowned International Master
Program in Data Analytics to students from all over the world. You
will work in a beautiful town with UNESCO World Heritage Sites,
located in the very center of Germany, just 30 km from Hanover and 1.5
hours by high-speed train to Berlin. The position is full-time,
available to be filled immediately and offers tenures of initially
three years. The salary amounts to TV-L E13 (roughly 50.000 EUR gross
income per year).

Who we are.
The Information Systems and Machine Learning Lab (ISMLL) at Institute
of Computer Science at University of Hildesheim is an international
research group on machine learning, especially predictive modelling
and probabilistic methods for complex data and complex decisions, with
an excellent publication track record (ACM KDD, IEEE ICDM, ECML
etc.). ISMLL takes part in basic and applied research projects in
various domains such as mobility, e-commerce and technology enhanced

renowned for high quality research and education.

What we expect.
We look for a gifted student who loves models, algorithms and data,
hardly can stop discussing them with others, likes to express his
ideas using formulas and programs and now wants to get to the bottom
of some complex ML problem over the next three years. You should have
a recent Masters Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics,
Data Science or a closely related area. A master thesis on an ML topic
and ML related courses in your masters programs will be an asset. You
are expected to have strong analytic and programming skills, the
ability to work independently, strong interpersonal as well as English
language skills.
