A position is opened for a Master Research Grant under the project BlueCC project - Commercial exploration of collagen and chitin of marine origin, University of Aveiro, (BLUEBIO/0001/ 2019), with the financial support of the Foundation for Science and Technology/MCTES, through national funds and, when applicable, co-financed by the ERDF, under the new partnership agreement PT2020, under the following conditions:

Admission requirements: Master's Degree in Economy, Management or related fields…


Admission requirements are:

  1. Proven domain of English language (oral and written).
  2. Registration in a course with or without degree conferencing (it is mandatory to comply with this requirement at the time of signature of the contract.

The preferred factors are: experience in evaluating the commercial viability of new products, preparing development plans and marketing strategies for new products, including legal and regulatory aspects, and experience in an international context.

If the qualification has been granted by a foreign higher education institution, it will have to be recognized by a Portuguese higher education institution, under the terms of the article 25 of Decree-Law no. 66/2018, of 16 August, which approves the legal regime for the recognition of academic degrees and diplomas of Higher Education, awarded by foreign higher education institutions, and of item e) of paragraph 2 of article 4 of Decree-Law no. 60/2018, of August 3, and any formalities established there must be completed by the date of the contracting act.


Eligibility: Candidates who comply with the provisions of paragraph a) of no. 1 of article 2 of the Research Fellow's Statute are eligible, as amended by Decree-Law no. 123 / 2019, of August 28, and also the regime established in article 9 of the Regulation of Scientific Research Grants of the University of Aveiro.


Work Plan: The work to be developed comprises the following objectives:

- Development of economic, environmental, and social return on investment (ROI) analysis models, including potential market value and benefits for companies with validated products.

- Elaboration of a complete set of business development plans, with steps and processes, as well as contingency plans, from research and development to manufacturing, including regulation and marketing.

- Systematization of information and knowledge generated in a strategic guide format for companies with validated products, including the conclusions of commercial feasibility studies developed during the project

- Participation in consortium meetings and communication and dissemination actions of the project results, including the writing of reports/deliverables and scientific articles, in English.


Applicable legislation and regulations: Statute of the Scientific Research Fellow, in the wording given by Decree-Law No. 123/2019, of 28 August; Regulation of Scientific Research Scholarships at the University of Aveiro, Regulation No. 292/2020, published in Diário da República No. 61, 2nd Series, of 26 March; Decree-Law No. 66/2018, of 16 August (Legal regime for the recognition of academic degrees and diplomas of higher education awarded by foreign higher education institutions).


Workplace: The work will take place at CESAM and at GOVCOPP Research Units and at the Departments of Biology and of Economics, Management, Industrial Engineering and Tourism, under the co-supervision of Professor Anabela Botelho and Doctor Ana I. Lillebø.


Grant period: The scholarship will have a duration of 12 months, starting on the 1st of September 2021, and may be renewable for an equal period or variable, up to the limit of the project execution


Monthly maintenance allowance amount: The amount of the scholarship corresponds to € 1,104.64, according to the table of monthly maintenance subsidies, set out in Annex III of the Regulation for Scientific Research Grants of the University of Aveiro.


Selection methods: Curriculum evaluation and interview, with the respective valuation of 60% and 40%.


Composition of the Selection Jury: Professor Anabela Botelho (president) and Doctors Ana I. Lillebø and Ricardo Calado (effective members).


Application deadline: The call is open from the 3rd to the 16th of August 2021, and applications are only allowed within the established deadline.


Submission of application: Applications must be formalized by sending a letter of application accompanied by the following documents: (i) Curriculum Vitae, (ii) letter of motivation, (iii) at least one reference letter, (iv) certificate of qualifications and other supporting documents deemed relevant. Form of publicity / notification of the results: The results of the evaluation are disclosed within a maximum period of 90 working days from the end of the submission of applications, by notifying the candidates. Candidates are informed, in the context of a prior hearing, under the terms enshrined in the Code of Administrative Procedure, of the draft decision, and may, within 10 working days from this notification, comment on this decision.
