Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences - Department of Physics 

PhD Position with expected 2/3 part-time employment - E 13 TV-L HU position (third-party-funded for 36 months)

 

Job description:

  • scientific service in research in the field of experimental particle physics, operation and calibration of the SND@LHC muon detector, analysis of deep-inelastic scattering events from myons and myon neutrinos as well as search for new physics with the SND@LHC detector
  • drafting of publications and presentation of results at conferences and workshops
  • preparation for further academic qualification (dissertation)

Requirements:

  • completed university education in physics with specialization in experimental nuclear, astro-particle or particle physics
  • knowledge in using Linux operating systems, knowledge of C++ and Python
  • experience with scintillation detectors, SiPMs, electronics, data acquisition and data analysis desirable
  • ability to work in teams and communication skills
  • readiness for duty travels to CERN
