University of Wroclaw invites applications for the position of assistant professor at Department of Invertebrate Biology, Evolution and Conservation at Faculty of Biological Sciences

Applications are invited from those who fulfil the statutory requirements specified in the Higher Education Act from 20th July 2018 (Dz. U. z 2018 r., poz. 1668) and the statutes of the University of Wroclaw.

Requirements

  1. Doctoral degree in biology.
  2. Experience in research in the field of environmental biology, especially entomology and insect conservation.
  3. Ability and knowledge of methods used in entomology, insect breeding, organization of a scientific collection, field research of conservation entomology.
  4. Ability to perform statistical analyzes in the R software environment and familiarity with GIS software (e.g. QGIS).
  5. Didactic experience in conducting laboratory classes at a university.
  6. Scientific achievements (especially in the field of entomology and insect conservation) documented by scientific publications.
  7. Conducted research must fall within the discipline of biological sciences.
  8. Fluent knowledge of Polish and English in speech and writing is required.

Responsibilities

  1. In the research area:
    - conducting field and experimental research on the following topics: entomology, forensic entomology, biology and ecology of insects,
    - following scientific reports in international journals,
    - preparation of scientific publications,
    - active participation in scientific conferences.
  2. In the teaching area:
    - conducting classes in the field of environmental biology, zoology and invertebrate  biology, entomology, forensic entomology,
    - supervision of volunteers and students carrying out research work in the laboratory.
  3. In the organizational area:
    - activities for the dissemination of science as part of the Lower Silesian Science Festival, Fascination of Plants Day and the Night of Biologists,
    - taking care of apprentices,
    - participation in creating new subjects and study programs.

  6. Self-presentation (information about scientific, teaching, organizational, and other achievements).
  7. List scientific publications in the last ten years.
  8. Electronic versions of the two most important publications that the candidate considers representative of his or her scientific achievements, or an explanation of the lack of them.
  9. Application for employment addressed to JM Rector including a description of applicant’s scientific interests.
