OFFER DESCRIPTION

The Center for Neuroscience and Cell Biology (CNC), University of Coimbra, opens a national call for 1 master (BI) for the purpose of carrying out research tasks within the project " New approaches on Hypoxic-Ischemic Encephalopathy: translational research to diagnose and monitor stem cell therapy " PTDC/BTM-TEC/29311/2017, funded by national funds managed by FCT / MCTES and co-financed by the European Regional Strategic Development Fund (ERDF), namely framed in the programs "Development and implementation infrastructure implementation projects inserted in RNie"; "Operational Program Competitiveness and Internationalization - POCI", "Operational Program Compete 2020", and / or the State Budget .

Benefits

The amount of the grant is € 1.104,64 corresponding to the monthly compensation stipulated in the FCT table (www.fct.pt/apoios/bolsas/valores), plus social security (Seguro Social Voluntário, first level contributions) and personal accidents insurance. The payment will be made by bank transfer. This amount will not be increased during the entire period of the grant duration.

Eligibility criteria

Holders of a master’s degree in Biochemistry, Cellular and Molecular Biology, or related fields. Candidates must be enrolled in a PhD, aiming to consolidate their scientific training through the development of research work leading to the attainment of the respective academic degree, whether integrated or not in R&D projects or in a non-academic degree Course integrated in the educational project of a Higher Education Institution; if the applicant is not yet enrolled, she/he must meet the requirements to register; enrolment will only be mandatory and proof necessary at the moment of scholarship contracting. Candidates must have training in Animal Science.

Selection process

Selection Methods: Curricular evaluation (AC) 60% and interview (E) 40%.

The formula to evaluate the curricular evaluation (AC), in a 0-100 scale, will be:

AC= 0.70*CV+0.30*AP

In which CV = 0.60*A + 0.10*B + 0.30*C e AP = 0.50*D + 0.50*F

E = 0.5*G + 0.5*H

Selection criteria:

In the Curricular evaluation (AC), in a 0-100 scale, the following criteria will be assessed

(i) merit and adequacy of the candidate curriculum vitae (CV) - 70%;

(ii) suitability of the candidate's profile to the tasks to develop (AP) - 30%

In the CV criteria, the following parameters will be taken into account:

Master's grade (60%)

Under 16,99 – 50

From 17 to 17,99 – 75

Over 18 - 100

Awards and scholarships (10%)

0 awards and scholarships – 0

Between 1 and 2 – 50

3 or more awards - 100

Scientific publications in journals or book chapters (both as first author or co-authorship) (30%)

1. 0 papers – 0

2. 1 paper – 50

3. 2 or more papers - 100

In the AP criteria, the following parameters will be taken into account:

Knowledge on animal HIE model (50%)

Animal behavioral tests (50%)

with each of D e F subcriteria valued as:

No experience – 0

Reasonable experience – 50

Adequate experience – 70

Proficient experience – 100

In the Interview (E) criteria, the following parameters will be taken into account:

Knowledge on HIE animal model, animal behavioral tests and use of stem cell therapy. Knowledge on biostatistical data analysis
