OFFER DESCRIPTION

Agrotecnio seeks a highly motivated Postdoctoral Scientist with a solid background in quantitative genetics, bioinformatics and statistics and with previous experience in genomic applications in livestock species. Candidates must have proven abilities to produce knowledge of international relevance to join a productive research team to carry out innovative research into ‘Sequence-Driven Pig Breeding’. The successful candidate is expected to develop strategies for producing genotypic and sequencing data in livestock populations, understand the mechanisms that underlie genetic variation of complex traits in pigs, and to contribute to developing strategies to implement genomic selection in pig breeding programs.

Agrotecnio (http://www.agrotecnio.org/) is an International Center of Excellence developing translational research intended to have a major scientific and economic impact in different elements of the Agri-food chain. Agrotecnio is located in the Campus of the School of Agronomy (ETSEA) of the University of Lleida in Catalonia, NE Spain (Lleida is located c. 160 Km west of Barcelona, with affordable accommodation and reasonable cost of living, and well communicated with major cities through highways and high-speed train).

The position is offered for a 3 year period with a gross salary of 33,000 € per annum. Qualified candidates should submit: (i) a brief curriculum vitae (no more than 4 pages); (ii) a motivation letter (less than 500 words); and (iii) the names and e-mail addresses of three internationally recognized scientists who will be required to provide references, to Agrotecnio Administration (agrotecnio.administracio@udl.cat). Deadline to receive the application package is 29 July 2021. The anticipated starting date will be in early September.
