The mission of NIED is "to conduct comprehensive fundamental basic study and fundamental research and development in order to increase the level of science and technology for disaster risk reduction". Under the project of “Research regarding multifaceted assessment for volcanic activities", we are utilizing the observational data to drive a multifaceted approach to research, aiming to elucidate the mechanisms behind volcanic phenomena and to predict and mitigate damage from volcano disasters.

As a member of Volcanic Disaster Resilience Research Division, the following duties should be conducted.
(1)Research on Mathematical model of volcanic activity, based on volcanic observation and experiment data.
(2)Research on the evaluation of volcanic activity and volcanic disaster threat around the volcanic region.
(3)International collaboration research on volcanic disaster resilience.

*The period of first six months is probationary.
Base monthly salary: More than 320,800 yen.
Area allowance: 15% of base monthly salary.
Work responsibility allowance: More than 60,900 yen.
*Including fixed overtime allowance: 15 hours equivalent.
Overtime allowance beyond 15 hours
Bonus: twice a year
Housing allowance: Up to 28,000 yen.
Commuting allowance: Up to 55,000 yen.
Days off: Every Saturday and Sunday, National holidays, New Year's holidays
Social insurance: Health insurance, Employees' pension insurance, Employment insurance, and Worker's accident compensation insurance
Working Hours:From 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., including a 45 minutes'break time.
*Discretionary labor system is available.
Your work performance and research achievement are evaluated at the end of every year in accordance with NIED's guidelines and the result is applied to the increase in your salary and bonus.
