The Instituto de Ciências Sociais da Universidade de Lisboa – ICS-ULisboa opens, for a period of 30 working days from the date of publication of this notice in the Diário da República, an external competition for the recruitment of an assistant researcher of the Research Staff Map of the ICS-ULisboa, in the area of political science, by Order No. 4631/2021 of 16 April, of the Rector of the University of Lisbon published in the Diário da República No. 88 of 6 May, within the framework of the Agreement-Programme of Institutional Support Selection Procedure signed between the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology, I.P. ( FCT,IP) the ICS –Ulisboa and in accordance with the provisions of articles 9, 10, 15, 19 and 20 of Decree-Law No. 124/99, of April 20, which approved the Statute of the Career of Scientific Research, amended by Law No. 157/99 of 14 September.

Type of contract: employment contract in public functions for an indefinite period of time, in a trial period for a period of three years, as established in paragraph 2 of article 38 of Decree-Law no. 124/99, of 20 April, in the wording given by 20 April, in the wording given by Law No. 157/99, of 14 September, combined with the provisions of Law No. 35/2014, of June 20 - General Labor Law in Public Functions (LTFP).

Gross monthly remuneration to be paid is 3.201,40 €, plus meal allowance. To these amounts are added annual holiday and Christmas allowances.

The position is open to individuals who meet the general requirements for admission to competition and employment in public functions, namely in article 17 of the General Law on Civil Service Employment (LTFP - Law 35/2014 of 21 June) and the special requirements set forth in n.º1 a) and b) of article 10 of Decree-Law no. 124/99, of April 20.

Candidates must complete and submit their formal applications with the Application Form (available at https://www.ics.ulisboa.pt/info/informacoes-legais) addressed to the Director of the Instituto de Ciências Sociais da Universidade de Lisboa by registered postal mail with acknowledgement of receipt, or delivered by hand, to the Instituto de Ciências Sociais da Universidade de Lisboa, Avenida Prof. Aníbal de Bettencourt, 9 – 1600-189 LISBOA, PORTUGAL. They should contain the following information:

a) Full personal details (full name, parents’ names, place of birth and nationality, date of birth, number and date of issue of identity card, citizen’s card, passport or other equivalent identification document, department or authority of issue, tax number, address, postcode, e-mail address and telephone number);

b) Birth registration certificate

c) Criminal record certificate

d) Health certificate for the exercise of public functions, issued by the health delegation

e) Documentary evidence, if applicable, of compliance with the Military Service Law;

f) Documents attesting to the respective academic qualifications;

g) Six copies of the curriculum vitae, drawn up and ordered taking into consideration the elements of evaluation;

h) One copy of each of the works published individually or collectively;

i) A letter in which the candidate states the reasons why he/she believes that his/her scientific contribution is important to the ICS; the themes he intends to develop and their connection with those existing ones in the ICS; the contributions that he/she thinks he/she can lend to post-graduate training and extension activities; his availability for teamwork and institutional involvement; two publications that he considers especially representative of his work.

Dr. Marina Castelo Branco Costa Lobo, Researcher with Habilitation from the Institute of Social Sciences of the University of Lisbon;

Dr. Pedro Miguel Dias Costa Coutinho Magalhães, Researcher with Habilitation from the Institute of Social Sciences of the University of Lisbon.

Assessment consists of appraisal of applicants’ curricula vitae and academic trajectories, which includes scope of research, post-graduate teaching, university extension and knowledge dissemination, and service to the University (management of academic activity).

 Research, which has a weighting of 70% in the overall assessment;

 Graduate and post-graduate Career, with a weighting of 15% in the overall assessment

 University Extension and Dissemination of Knowledge, with a weighting of 5% in the overall assessment;

 Service to the University (management of academic activities), which carries a weighting of 5% of the overall assessment.
