Laboratory for Advanced Materials (LAM) (https://fns.uniba.sk/en/lam/) at Comenius University in Bratislava Slovakia is seeking a motivated researcher to conduct state-of-the-art research in the fields of chemistry and materials science. We have currently following open position:
Optical Spectroscopy of Single Nanocrystals. The work in this area will focus primarily on characterization of optical properties of quantum confined nanocrystals, such as quantum dots, rods, platelets, heterostructures, etc., as well as development of new spectroscopy characterization tools at a single nanostructure level, using confocal optical microscopy. The project is part of an ongoing collaboration with top international institutions in the EU and USA.
The research will be performed at an EU financed, newly established Laboratory for Advanced Materials (LAM), located in a modern, recently built Comenius University Science Park (https://cusp.uniba.sk), under the direction of Dr. Milan Sykora (European Research Area (ERA) Chair). At LAM you will be a member of a multi-disciplinary research team of chemists, physicists and material scientists and will apply and develop modern experimental methods for preparation and characterization of nanomaterials and other advanced materials. You will have an opportunity to collaborate with research teams from top research institutions in EU and USA.
Compensation. Attractive salary at the EU level, depending on experience and performance. Exceptional candidates may be considered for prestigious Saspro2 (https://saspro2.sav.sk/indexEn.html), or Marie-Curie Fellowships.

- Recently completed PhD in Physics, Chemistry, Material Science or related field
- Strong publication record including optical studies of quantum confined nanomaterials
- Professional knowledge of written and spoken English language
- Experience with confocal optical microscopy
- Experience with single nanoparticle spectroscopy of quantum confined nanocrystals
- Experience with time-resolved optical spectroscopy methods
- Good understanding of models of electronic structure and relaxation dynamics/kinetics
